Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Hello,

I've just noticed that the MarsHydro Reflector 450W Led Grow Light has been upgraded, when did this happen?
I purchesed my light on the 31st jan 2015 and i can't help but feel a little angry because based on the specs that was provided at the time i think the lumen count was incorrect?

Old specs,

Spectrum: 430~440nm, 450~475nm, 620~630nm, 650~670nm, White, Real Infrared spectrum: 730nm
LEDs: 144*3WLEDs
Dimension: 33*10*2inches
Lumen: 21900lumens
Coverage: 4*3ft( Veg), 3.5*2.5ft(Flowering)
Output power: 450Watt
Power consumption: 110V: 274W-294W/220V: 258W-270W
Amp:2.32A/110V, 1.19A/220V
Worldwide Voltage Capable: AC85~265V
View Angle of LEDs: 90/120° Mixed
Lifespan: 50000-100000hours

New specs,

Spectrum: 430~440nm, 450~475nm, 620~630nm, 650~670nm, White, Real Infrared spectrum: 730nm
LEDs: 144*5WLEDs
Dimension:33*10*2inches
Lumen:7384lumens
N.W:6.68KG G.W.: 8.03KG
Output power:720Watt
Coverage:4*3ft( Veg), 3.5*2.5ft(Flowering)
Power consumtion:315W ±5%
Veg/Flower power draw: 1.74A/216W(Veg),0.819A/102W(Flower)
Amp:2.90A/110V 1.43A/220V
Worldwide Voltage Capable: AC85~265V
View Angle of LEDs: 90/120 degree Mixed

I see the more powerful 5w leds are only 7384 lumens?

What exactly are you angry about, are you happy with your light? Lumens are an irrelevant measurement of light when it comes to LED as the light given out by LED is the light that plants can use most, whereas lumens are a measurement of the amount of light the human eye can see.

The possibility that the light was upgraded not long after i made a purchase and the fact that the information provided was possibly incorrect.

There are many people that feel the 3w are more efficient and do the same job. I wouldn't feel cheated. It's like an upgrade to an automobile. Are you angry at Ford because the new f150 gets 6 miles more per gallon then the one you bought last year? :peace:

The fact that it has been upgraded since should be no reason to make you angry, it happens a lot in life and you will be angry forever if you worry about little things like that. Supergroomer offered you an analogy there that should work, if not then I'll offer you another. Do you get angry every time a mobile phone manufacturer upgrades their latest phone? Think Apple, you can buy the top of the range and another will be along to replace it six months or so later down the line. I bought 2 of the 96x3 Reflectors a month before they were swapped out for the new 96x5. Am I angry at Mars Hydro for that? No. Did I kick myself? Yes, as I was in no rush for the lights, but it happened and there's no point getting angry with it. Enjoy your light.

From my understanding 5w have much better penetration and i would have gone with that model instead had i known it was coming. Don't get me wrong i do like the light, especially the ability to switch from veg to bloom mode at a flick of a switch.

Btw i said i was a little angery by that i mean not having smoke pouring out of my ears! Prehaps i chose the wrong words and should of used a little disapointed instead.

Hello!

I JUST had my two MarsHydro "Old Style" 60x5W open but forgot to look at something, now I already closed them...FML...
Could you please let me know the model for the fans and/or CFM ratings so I can get replacement fans?
The lights still work great but the fans are slightly "chirping", so I want to replace them.

(I just entirely disassembled the fans, cleaned them, the bearings, oiled them..now they're chirping even more :)

G.

Thank you!

Edit: I guess Arctic F12 or Zalman F3 120mm should be fine

Here is a little bud porn for y'all. Critical Super Silver Haze 39 days into flower. :peace:

I compare LED to HPS , Lets stay on track and stick to LED vs HPS.

You do not get it yet ... Let me help , HID lights are inferior to LED Panels and ALWAYS will be.

LED have about a 2 to 1 watt advantage the PRO series will have even more of a Advantage over non Pro Panels do to the features it incorporates.

You sound like your new to growing , you need to study up on LED Panels to gain a basic understanding.

comparing LED's to HPS lights is like comparing a Porsche to a Hyundai , The LED panels grow that much better per watt then the MH/HPS.

Cree256 cant beat 1000hps. Bml spydr 1200 can beat 1000hps. Cree256 can replace 600-700w hps

Cree256 cant beat 1000hps. Bml spydr 1200 can beat 1000hps. Cree256 can replace 600-700w hps

If you know this for fact I would like to see your proof. If it's not fact then please don't spread misinformation. There is no need for that type of thing in a thread where new people come to learn about LED's

You have not done your homework , I have.

Where did you get the *incorrect* info, its Like you had it predetermined..

The cree 256 is a 680w Panel , therefore it completely beats a 600w hps and by about 50%

I have facts science and experience with LED's on my side. ;)

All the pics of indoor commercial grow operations that I've seen have HPS. How come??

Times are changing LED has won the HPS/MH battle , now LED is taken on induction lighting and so far with the high costs of Induction lights it brings favor to LED panels.

Hence why I/we are using them. If Induction lighting was affordable it would be a close competitor.

HID lighting is old tech and outclassed by LED abilities to deliver high PAR per watt numbers.
