Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

I purchased 2 120x5watt fixtures off Amazon a little over a month ago, first reported here on 8-25 pg.1089. They have only been run on a 12 hour schedule and I see that one of the corner leds is out. I realize I purchased lower end fixtures and will continue to monitor their qualities....

As with most electronic items failure is usual in the first few cycles let Sara know and the repairs are easy. If you have a temp / humidity monitor put it by the light just to make sure the air movement is good if it is near the same everywhere in the grow area you are doing your part as for the light I have both the 120 x 5 and 60 x 5 and while I can see there is more white in the light the lux output is the same as the Mars 2 and when you look at the price of the lights and the speed the grow light industry is changing if you get 2 years by then they will be outdated and you will want new ones anyway

Hope you have good travels this Golden Week Sara! Seeing family?

A question for you, or any other US customers. Has the box logo/contents listing issue been resolved? Have the US warehouses begun shipping in discreet boxes? This is for Mars 2 400 lights and the 27"x27"x63" tents. I will be ordering two of each directly off the MH website very soon, as long as they are bland boxes.

Thanks!

I received two lights last week they both had a ID sticker in Chinese the only reference to contents (that I could read) was 144 LED both were the same and the tag was taped over and intended to stay so I would guess it is a warehouse control item. A quick swipe with a Sharpie at shipping and it would say nothing (Hint Hint Sara)

It is what it is Randy, i knew they were on the lower end but I saw no sense in jumping into a new field without testing the waters first. Looking at the light there are 8 rows of 15 leds. from left to right the first led is out and the far corner number 15 is dim, they look to be green but my understanding is there are no green lights in them? I bought them on Amazon, do I still deal with Sara? I will continue to use it and see if any more go out. My thermal imaging gun shows no differences around the good or bad fixture.

There are green LEDs in the MarsHydro units. Do keep in mind the color green to a plant is plain white light.

The best way to resolve any possible warranty issues is to send an e-mail to Sara with pictures attached instead talking about the possible issue in this thread.

Or apply a "fragile" sticker over the label.

Sara will take care of you as for the lights quality I really wonder what the difference is I often think of breaking open one and comparing it with a Mars 2 as for the green LED if it was a reflector you can put a black funnel over the diode to block out other light and you will see a dirty white light not a green one just your eye's having fun with your brain.
The only reason I mentioned temp is you will see a lot of grows with a major lack of air movement and that is hard on the plants and lights I keep a bunch of the cheap eBay temp /humidity gauges in my grow and make adjustments as needed

Or a well placed fragile sticker..

I've also found that it helps to have a small (6 inch) fan pointed up at the LEDs blowing onto them helps remove heat and extent the life of your light . Looking at quite a few pictures on here , it looks like most of you don't have fans inside the tent , yes it's good and necessary to have a fan remove the air from the tent , it is also imperative to have a fan inside the tent moving air around also , I have multiple fans in all tents , no matter the tent size , one for each led and at least one for the plants . Hope this helps :)

Hey There Gnarl when you are over there try and make them understand the art of Stealth perhaps some Nick names like 144 x 5 stuffed animals.
If my UPS driver is the norm fragile stickers mean "Stand Here" had three different lights come with Boot marks on the fragile stickers thankfully the box held up. I spent a Holiday overseeing plane loading and my experience was the quantity of stickers was the direct influence of distance thrown and noise was a added joy for the loaders.

I run three 16 inch osculating fans at all times with two more for back up and two exhaust fans (1 6in and 1 8in) temps stay in check even in the summer never more than 2 degree difference anywhere in the tent if you pull the air out at a level that pulls the side of your tent in and keep the air in the tent moving there should never be a heat or mold issue and your plants will be healthier

It's either trust shipping or have the gestapo follow you home from the grow store. :)

My 2 girlz are starting to grow up instead of out , they are 2ft wide x 1ft tall.
