N.C. - Carteret County deputies say they found a high-tech marijuana growing operation.
Citizen complaints of the smell of marijuana coming from a garage shop led authorities to an indoor marijuana growing operation.
Carteret County deputies have arrested Andrew Gould and Erin Toler. Gould was charged with trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a building to keep, sell, and produce marijuana, and maintaining a vehicle to transport marijuana.
Toler was charged with trafficking marijuana and manufacturing marijuana.
Deputies say when they approached the shop's door in Newport and began speaking with Toler, they say Gould was caught running from the back of the building. Inside deputies say they found a false wall which concealed high-tech marijuana growing equipment and a closed circuit video camera system.
Seized were 120 marijuana plants and four pounds of pot. At maturity, deputies say the marijuana seized has a street value of over $100,000.
Gould was placed in the Carteret County Jail under a $100,000.00 bond and Toler was jailed on a $75,000.00 bond. Deputies say more arrests and charges are expected.
