Two large marijuana plants, hydroponic equipment and 12 guns have been seized by police during a raid in Katherine.

Three people have been charged over the incident. The raid was sparked after police found 19 bags containing 1g of cannabis each during a search of a 27-year-old man's vehicle.

Police had approached the man in relation to another incident about 11am on Monday, when they searched his silver Ford Falcon sedan with his consent.

Police then searched a rural block finding the cannabis plants - both more than a metre high - in a hydroponic set-up hidden in a workshop shed.

About 600g of cannabis was also seized from the room, along with seven grow lights, three air-conditioners and eight transformers. A 27-year-old man and a 36-year-old man were arrested.

Both were charged with possession and supply of cannabis and were bailed to appear in the Katherine Magistrates Court.

A 61-year-old woman is also expected to face court on firearm charges after police found 12 guns in the shed during the raid.

Police said while the woman's guns were registered they were not stored in line with legislative requirements.

Gun owners must have the weapons locked in a cabinet, which is bolted to the ground.

Police are still investigating.

The cannabis will be retained by police for court purposes, and once it is no longer needed as an exhibit it will be burnt in a furnace.
