Medical experts from Iowa, patients who have benefited from medical marijuana, and others will testify Wednesday in the third of four hearings the Iowa Board of Pharmacy is holding to examine the medical value of marijuana and whether marijuana’s classification under state law should be changed.

WHO: Witnesses providing testimony will include:
Dr. Stephan Arndt, director of the Iowa Consortium for Substance Abuse Research and Evaluation, and editor-in-chief of the journal Substance Abuse Treatment, Prevention, and Policy, will offer a scientific perspective, including issues related to abuse, dependence and risks. Scheduled to speak at 1:40 p.m.
Dr. Deborah LeBeau, a Dubuque obstetrician/gynecologist and internist, will speak out in support of medical marijuana.
Lisa Jackson, a Crawfordsville resident who suffers from very severe fibromyalgia, will discuss how using medical marijuana significantly relieves her pain and improves her quality of life.
