Memphis Police narcotics detectives said this afternoon they were closing in on the people who ran an indoor marijuana-growing house in the University of Memphis area.
More than $150,000 in marijuana was recovered – 30 marijuana plants and 23 pounds of cultivated marijuana – along with many of the accoutrements used to grow the plants.
The bust at 3431 Douglass netted 30 marijuana plants and 23 pounds of cultivated pot.
Acting on a citizen's tip, Organized Crime Unit officers on Monday executed a search warrant at 3431 Douglass, near Highland.
In one of the hallways of the house, officers discovered a carpeted tunnel, which led under the house to a 50-foot-long work area used to grow pot.
Inside the work area they found heaters, fertilizers, fans, lights and marijuana plants. Scales, soil testers, air conditioners and a ventilation system were discovered inside the residence.
The tunnel also led to the rear of the residence, where two additional passageways were uncovered.
No arrests have been made, but police said charges are imminent.
