First it was Portland's Cannabis Cafe, which sold Marsee Bakery pastries and sandwiches. Then last week, Cheba Hut, the "marijuana-themed" restaurant chain, opened a Corvallis location with munchies on the menu (and on customers minds). A Portland Cheba Hut is in the works.
Now, a restaurant serving actual marijuana-spiced food is planning to open in Ashland.
According to the Medford Mail Tribune, Earth Dragon Edibles will open for business on Friday serving medical marijuana card holders Mongolian barbecue made with cannabis-laced grapeseed oil. The article quotes Ashland Police Chief Terry Holderness saying Earth Dragon is of dubious legality.
To get around state laws restricting the sale or purchase of marijuana, Earth Dragon owner Mike Shea told the newspaper he plans to instead accept suggested donations for different items -- $8 for a regular bowl of Mongolian barbecue and $10 for a large.
Suggested donations for marijuana cookies range around $4. Honey, pies and other goods are also available.
Shea calls the food "medibles," or medicated edibles.
