A Florida man was arrested recently after deputies found a bag of marijuana inside an Apple Jacks cereal box in his car.

Jeffrey Ashley Bourdeau, 28, of Sanford, Fla., was arrested Oct. 7 and charged with possession of marijuana and speeding.

Deputy Robert Godley was traveling on southbound Interstate 95 near exit 14 when he saw a silver van speeding nearby. He attempted to catch up to the vehicle, and by the time he did so the travel speed was verified by radar at 90 mph in a 70 mph zone. The deputy stopped the vehicle at about the nine mile marker.

He approached the driver, Bourdeau, and asked for his license. Bourdeau produced a Florida license but could not find the rental agreement for the car. Godley asked Bourdeau to step to the rear of the car.

The deputy then began to write a citation for speeding and asked Bourdeau where he was coming from, to which Bourdeau said New York. He also said his kids were off from school this week, which Godley reported he thought was odd because no other schools were off at that time.

Godley had Bourdeau sign the ticket and asked where he worked. Bourdeau said he worked in customer service for a cell phone company and his wife was a homemaker.

Godley then asked to search the vehicle, saying he was looking for drugs and weapons. Bourdeau said he did not have anything like that in the car and waved his hands toward it. He then added he did have some money his brother had given him to buy a car.

The deputy asked Bourdeau how much money he had, to which he said "a couple thousand." Godley asked Bourdeau specifically how much, and he said $20,000.

Godley then began conducting a search of the vehicle, which yielded brown paper bags containing two bundles of money. The deputy took the money to Bourdeau and asked him again how much it was, and Bourdeau this time said $28,000.

Godley returned to the van and continued his search. He found a cereal box between the two front seats containing a clear plastic bag of marijuana. He placed Bourdeau and his passenger under arrest and read them their Miranda rights. Bourdeau acknowledged that the marijuana was his, Godley reported.

A further search of the car revealed an orange bag containing a glass pipe with marijuana residue. The evidence and subjects were taken to the Camden County Sheriff's Office.

I agree with thebled88, it was his own stupidity for getting arrested. first off he shouldnt have been speeding with all that weed and money, and second he should have been smarter about it.

unless he can somehow prove that it had nothing to do with that marijuana im sure he will... if it was really his brothers, im sure his brother will get it back.
