Neighbors in an affluent north Arlington neighborhood rarely saw the man who rented the nearly $400,000 two-story brick house on Stone Bridge Drive, police say.
On Tuesday, no furniture could be seen through the windows, and the home appeared to be empty. But according to police, it probably always was.
"This place was nothing more for this guy than a house to grow marijuana in," said Cmdr. Herschel Tebay, of the Tarrant County Organized Crime/Narcotics Unit.
A 36 year old male, of Dallas was arrested Sept. 29 at the house after officers seized 178 hydroponic marijuana plants, which had an estimated street value of nearly $300,000, Tebay said.
The man was taken into custody on one count of possession of marijuana, which will probably be a felony based on the amount seized, officials said.
Arlington police helped the narcotics unit with the arrest.
The man was released from the Tarrant County Jail on $10,000 bail the day after his arrest.
Investigators on Tuesday were trying to find the owner of the home.
The house is north of Northeast Green Oaks Boulevard, east of Texas 360, and just south of River Legacy Parks.
Tebay said investigators received a tip about the marijuana.
He declined to elaborate, except to say that the grower appeared to be very good at the job.
