The last of five men who pleaded guilty to taking part in a home invasion last May was sentenced to 12 1/2 years in prison Monday.

Joaquin Manuel, 25, pleaded guilty to multiple counts of aggravated assault and one count of first-degree burglary in the case and was sentenced by Pima County Superior Court Judge Jane Eikleberry, said Deputy Pima County Attorney Dan Nicolini.

Manuel and three other men kicked in the door of a home near East Valencia Road and South Nogales Highway, believing there was a large amount of marijuana there, police said.

When the men found no marijuana, they went to another home on the property and kicked in the door there, too. They found no marijuana and fled.

The men were arrested after their getaway driver crashed into a Domino's Pizza delivery driver while being chased by police.

The other men in the case are serving between 1 1/2 and 17 1/2 years in prison.

Scumbags stealing dope will eventually get caught. When those guys get out, Pot will be legal and they will not have to steal anymore ( we hope).

Welcome to the "border wars". There are 2 Nogales cities. They lie adjacent to each other, one on the Mexico side, the other in Arizona. In this highly publicized area, product is smuggled into the US, the money is then smuggled back to Mexico, both on an almost daily basis. Apparently, someone on the US side didnt hold up their end of the bargain and the Mexico side sent "los banditos" to collect. That said, the Mexico side doesnt share the same sense of humor or have the same regard for the law as we on the US side do...:peace:MF

12.5 years and they committed a violent crime against other people, a non violent citizen with a joint could get the same sentence, makes me sick.:peace:

You should also find the story of the guy, the fool, in La Mesa California, he was steal electricity from 2006 to 2008 and ordered to pay back $18,000 to San Diego Gas and Electric.
He was arrested and 60 months jailed and 5 years supervision on 7 charges. It's on the internet today.
Why report??
Cause these are the exact people, only thinking of themselves and is going to ruin it the bill, the freedom, the law to legalize for all of us.
I'm glad he was busted. People need to stop and think and do things right. It's going to change by next year, but we have to be patient.
These guys kicking in doors...have they ever heard of just finding a job or collecting can's? It adds up and they could just buy some weed...geese
