HAMMOND, La. An Alabama man fleeing hurricane conditions was arrested by Hammond Police after he fell asleep in the drive-through of a fast-food restaurant with a bag of marijuana on his front seat.

Lieutenant Sal Mike says a motorist flagged down a police officer Wednesday to report the drive-through pickup lane was blocked by a man who had fallen asleep.

The officer knocked on the window to tell 28-year-old Eddrick Williams to move on. When Williams rolled down the window, Mike says a bag of pot on the front seat was clearly visible.

The officer reached inside the truck and grabbed the pot. He arrested the driver and discovered three weapons.

Williams is charged with illegal possession of firearms while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
