So i noticed one of my outdoor's today, has started to flower.. with a heavy heart i have established it to be male. Is it actually?! From what I've read and seen i should be able to tell if the other's are too, but This is my first grow and i'm struggling to see any pistils. it just looks like more vegetative growth to me.. are they even flowering yet?

so this one is a male for sure, right?

the seeds were just random ones i got off a mate so if there's any telltale signs about strain or genus that'd be fantastic too :)

Thanks in advance guys

(edit)
also any ideas on what i can do with the male one (assuming it is)? i heard they can be used for edibles?

Everyone always says chuck the males out, I don't agree with that, the poor thing!

Yes they can be used for edibles and although low in THC still have cbd, of course unless you want seeds in your bud to grow more and have some of your own sort of genetics, is to keep them completely separate, so let's say you have your females indoors and assuming you have a good outdoor climate and are able to grow them outside, I'd put the males outside so they don't pollinate the ladies unless you want them to, or maybe have a separate box for the males, but be careful because they can pollinate the females super easy so you have to keep them seperate, unless you can't do any of that and you don't want seeds in your bud, you finna' have to kill the poor dudes or plant them somewhere or give them away. Best of luck though bro! - Josh

Just the potential headaches as the pollen can come in off your clothes/hair/shoes/cat/dog/flying bugs/strong wind and windows open/magic/etc ;)...along with lets say someone is growing outdoors in your neighborhood (or even indoors potentially), a Bee goes "ohhh pollen" then flies off somewhere in the neighborhood and goes "oh pretty flowers", as I know if I had ladies outside and my girlfriends got knocked up cus someone decided to stick a male outside I would be annoyed ;) same as if doing myself in by moving a male outside and I ended up knocking up my own because a bug got into the house and helped nature along

Haha you have a good point. What I meant throughout the whole post however is if you want to keep the males, keep them completely separate from your girls unless you want seeds

Your plants are looking good. Yes last post is a male which normally flower sooner than females. Your branches are offset are they clones or if from seed there mature plants. Be patient, move or kill the male unless you want seeds. Good grow and may you be bestowed with females in the near future.

omfg. wrote this long nice msg acknowledging each of you but apparently put in the wrong box. So I'll just say; thanks all. Helped me out. The male's now in the freezer waiting for unsalted butter :D

Yeah well, for a first grow I'm pretty pleased.. I'll take some photo's tomorrow.

One of them is getting some brown spots on it which I've seen around on websites, and if i remember rightly, it's a deficiency of some form. Neither are as bushy as I'd like.. but really i haven't been taking care of them.. -plant seeds > re-pot > random garden fertilizer > water > re-pot > water > re-pot > water > water > water > water ect.-

So I can't really complain, I did snap one of the tops today when i was moving it :( so that's a bit shit.. but yeah generally pretty healthy I think, I did in fact give them a bit of (higher quality) fertilizer today so they might even pic up a bit in the next week or so.
