Making a Grow Journal with a Random Seed - a Gift From a Friend

Hey guys, this is my first attempt to grow and ive done some research and h ave learned alot from this website and posters! thanks in advance to all of you hard working growers that show us the light!

well right now im using this as practice im attempting an organic grow for the first time, my camera sucks so i will do my best to post as many pics and ask as many questions as possible. the soil mix im using is 30 % compost manure 30% perlite 30 % peat moss 10 % vermiculite..

i purchased a ph tester from home depot to check ph, nitrogen phosphate and potassium

and i tested the soil the ph is 7.0 nitrogen readings show medium and the phosphorous is a little high .. the potassium is medium ,im using a 4,25'' flower pot for the seedling stage then transferring it to a 5 gallon eco pot it helps ventilate and drainage. .( im practicing for when i buy the good seeds an auto flower should i plant in the 5 gallon or transfer? i heard its bad for budding if you transfer autos) i know i will have to water frequent due to perlite vermiculite and the 5 gallon pot..

i will upload photos of the chart and the tubes of what im using to measure ph and all. . im attempting and indoor growth while its a seedling i will use a small restroom closet 2x1 then moving it to my closet 5x2 10 ft high . , what kind of light should i use, in the small 2x1 ? dont want to burn my plant im thinking a , 150 w hps until veg then go to 2 or should i just go to 400w right from seedling/or should i wait until veg for those lights? a
im air-cooling with a fan idc if it stinks in here no one cares everyone smokes in my aprt. im not trying to get caught either but i will use a small fan to constantly deliver airflow to the restroom lol .. how often should i feed my plant and what should i feed it while its a seedling..for the first week or 2 ? ?

what should be the temperature and humidity ive done countless research and right now the temp is 75 low 71 high 79 humidity i at 60 ...and does it need a light before it sprouts?


as soon as it starts to vegg.. im planing to use fox farm trio or General Hydroponics Flora series which i have heard great results using it on organic mix..
which do you guys recommend i buy??

I also wouldn't feed your seedling anything for at least 2 weeks, especially if you have manure in your soil mix. There should already be plenty of food in the soil for the first little while. I grow DWC so not sure about soil, you gotta research.

subscribed. with auto flower cannabis plants you want to plant them in their final pots, they do not have enough time to adjust to rooting at different transplant stages. I recommend you buy a 400 watt or 600 watt digital dimable ballast that you can either run at 400 watts and 250 watts and can run a Metal Halide light bulb or High Pressure Sodium light bulb, you will need a 600 watt digital dimable ballast to cover a 5'x2'x10' area. unless you wish to buy all of your equipment now you could just use the 5'x2'x10 area with a Metal Halide lamp dimmed for vegetative growth and change the light bulb to a High Pressure Sodium for flowering. I recommend you run 6 inch cooltubes and 6 inch inline fans with your High Intensity Discharge lights. I recommend you use a 6 inch carbon filter for your grow, a flowering cannabis plant smell very different then burned cannabis. lift your pots when they are dry to get a feel for when they need to be watered. you want to water before the plant begins to droop, water as required. you do not need a light before the seeds sprout but it helps the plant orientate itself when the seeds break the soil. I would not feed anything until your plants are 4-5 inches tall and have 5 nodes then begin with 1/4 strength nutrients and slowly increase as your plants grow. I use General Hydroponics Flora series 3 part nutrients that can be used in hydroponics, soil and soiless media. General Hydroponics Flora series nutrients can be mixed to different ratios for all stages of vegetative growth and flowering. I buy General Hydroponics Flora series in 1 gallon or larger size as it is more economical. have a look at my LA Confidential grow journal in my signature.

that is a great great walk trough! thank you so much i dont have much money right now i however want to air the room out is there other ways other than duct? like a fan in the room and closing the door have the pressure push the air out the bottom crack of door which for some reason is 2 '' open ? if not ill buy it but thank you so so much!! not sure how to measure 1/4 strength do you mind explaining? and thanks in advance! ive seen your post thats what motivated me to join this site!!! and attempt it!! thank you!

to operate High Intensity Discharge lights you need airflow to cool the light and remove the heat from the area. I use a 3cc and 60cc syringe to measure my nutrients. for General Hydroponics Flora series i would begin by giving them a 1/4 strength dosage 1cc per gallon of Flora Gro, Flora Micro and Flora bloom.

the one im actually practicing for is norhtern lights feminized 100 % nirvana auto flower.. this is gonna be my first which will be the best nutrients for this strain ? trio fox farm, the florarl series 3 or this one ?

Someone reccomened this but idk which to pick? tried seeing reviews its all so confusing.

the difference between a magnetic and a digital ballast is a large one.
a digital ballast can run both Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium light bulbs, is usually dimable now, runs at higher efficiency to convert electricity to light, produces higher lumens, runs cooler, drives the light bulb to higher frequency.

to add C02 to your grow area you will either need a C02 bottle, C02 regulator and distribution tubing or a Exhale Homegrown CO2 Cultivator.
