A trade group representing Maine's medical marijuana caregivers is outlining an ambitious agenda for the coming year.
The Medical Marijuana Caregivers of Maine says its plans include submitting new marijuana bills to the Legislature, creating a certification program for marijuana growers, publishing a quarterly newsletter, holding a fundraising benefit and organizing a bike rally.
The group says one bill it plans to introduce would call for legalizing marijuana possession and cultivation in Maine.
The trade association formed last fall a year after Maine voters expanded the state's medical marijuana law. Maine allows caregivers to provide marijuana to patients who suffer from chronic, painful illnesses.
