Supporters of legalizing medical marijuana testified at the Georgia Capitol today.
One of those testimonies came from Troup County father Dale Jackson.
Medical marijuana is legal in Georgia — but only for the some 500 citizens who are able signed up.
But getting access to that medical marijuana **legally** is nearly impossible.
Dale Jackson's son is non-verbal autistic and Jackson is desperate to help his son have a better life.
House Bill 722 would allow between two and six medical-
cannabis manufacturers to be licensed by the state and serve people with certain medical conditions registered with the state.
This bill would also expand access to cannibus oil to others who suffer from Autism, PTSD, MS, and Tourettes — just to name a few.
"I'm asking you. I'm begging you. Please do not turn me into a felon next year because this is the last year I will come and ask for your permission. Thank you,"
Jackson told a House Committee.
The house committee will hear from opponents on Wednesday.
This bill would be patterned after Minnesota's medical marijuana law — that state is known as being one of the strictest state's on medical marijauana.
Twenty-three states already allow medical marijuana.
