Litmus' First Grow Journal - Coco Sadist - T5/LED - Mixed Strain - 2015

Hello Everyone! This is my first attempt at growing. I've been reading on the forum for a couple years and would first like to thank everyone for the abundance of amazing info on here!!!!!:goodjob: I've already experienced a few problems as I had expected, but the ladies seem to be on the road to recovery. I'm still learning and trying to get and keep everything dialed in. I'm hoping for some good advice along the way.

Here's the info:

I don't know the strains of the clones as my friend mixed up the labels prior to my receiving them. Some are master kush. The others we won't know until flower when my friend will be able to help me identify.

Transplant and veg began on 12/13/15
Using (2) T5 HO 4 bulb fixtures. I have a 3rd I'm about to add.
Coco in 3 gal pots - plastic and grow bags
Temps 70-82F
RH - 40% - 48%
Canna A-B, CalMag, Cal only
Filtered Water

This is the veg Room 7'x8' approx. I'm almost finished building my Flower Room which will be 11'x8' running 2 Spydr 1200s with Co2 in a sealed environment using an intake/exhaust as little as necessary to control temps/co2/etc.

In the photos you'll see the problems I've been having along with a breakdown of my mistakes. My original plan was to start with soil. My friend who has been doing this successfully for some time pushed me to try coco. He told me what nutes to get and to water twice daily. So I did...

The first few day I did not have a water filter or PH/PPM pen, so I just used the recommended dose to feed. I also didn't pop out the holes in some the plastic pots, which didn't allow them to runoff. So we were off to a bad start torturing the ladies.

A couple days in I, put holes in the pots and let the coco dry out quite a bit... Too much most likely. I flushed next and waited a couple more days as the coco always seemed too wet to me. This was about the time I really began to focus on solving my problem. With all the info out there I began trying to diagnose and repair the plants based on everything I've been reading about coco and deficiencies as well as toxicity. I decided the best bet was to cut my nutes down to 1/2 the recommended and keep the PH between 5.5 and 6. It has been this way for the last week and the girls seem to be doing much better for the most part. I'm still not 100% sure I'm where I should be regarding EC and PPM, hopefully someone can chime in and offer some advice as to where I should be approx. In a panic I transplanted 2 into soil thinking if they do better I will transfer them all for this first run. I intend to run Doc's High Brix on the next batch.

Currently I'm running 1/2 dose of nutes and feeding in am/pm with about 10% runoff. Is it time to increase the does?

Here are photos from the beginning transplant through today. You can definitely see the learning curve. Try not to cringe...lol

Anyone able to help identify the problem/deficiency I have going on in the last 5-6 photos? The leaves seem too bright geen, but I know everything is recovering from the initial stress when I first started.

Current feed mix is 1/2 the recommended by manufacturer:
15ml Coca A-B
1 Tsp CalMag
Filtered water
PH 5.5 - 6
Today ECM 1.3 and PPM 600
Watering in AM and PM - 10% runoff

So, I've been busy working on the bloom room and have moved all of the girls out of the cedar closet into my main room. I've also managed to solve my problems simply by getting the PH dialed in....easy fix.

I've made some modular scrog setups for each plant to make things easy on me for watering, trimming, LST, etc. they all been topped, FIMed, some super-cropped, and training has started. The girls seem to enjoy the torture, lol. Everything I've done to them hasn't slowed them down much. Last night I even snapped, Doh, a branch trying to maneuver one of the ladies around under the scrog. I taped her up and shes looking ok today.

Now for the photos.

My 2 Spydrx Plus' will go in this room and the T5 HOs will come out. I plan to flower 4 at a time with about a 30 day delay. I'm thinking my scrog is too low to last another 3 weeks without some serious training. Each one is 2'x2' approx 15" above the medium.

Thoughts? Advice?

Update...

I have my room sealed off now. Both Spydr Xplus LEDs are up and running. Co2 (tank) Running at 1500ppm. No AC and temps ranging from 72-78F (night) to 85-91F (Day). I do run intake/exhaust for about 90 seconds every 20 min to keep my temps down during the day. I know I'm losing a little co2 this way, but the co2 has been kicking on right when the ventilation shuts down and only runs about 45 seconds so I'm not too concerned. One of my goals was to see if I could run a sealed room without an air conditioner. So far so good. RH is generally at 41% throughout the day.

I have switched to 12/12 and set up my 4x8 scrog as well.

Had some cal mag deficiencies, but I have that corrected and they are starting to look better again. I'm using Canna Nutes and CalMag, plus some additional Mag to correct the problems I was having. Now for the pics...

We are 14 days into flower now and I'm super excited to see it going much better now! It's not been nearly as easy as I expected this to be, but I find the time I spend in the room with the girls very relaxing and therapeutic. I think I finally have the few girls that were deficient back on track. Now I'm flushing more often and adding more cal mag and N. Adding PK as well. I still feel anxious every time I've changed something with their nutes hoping I've made the right decision. I've also gone from watering all of them with the same mix to adjusting accordingly based on what I see going on. I knew I should have been doing this from the start, especially with multiple strains reacting differently. Lesson learned. Next round I will be sticking to just 1 strain. I think I'm going to make the switch from coco to High Brix as well.

On to the photos
The first 1 was in soil, I removed as much as I could and transplanted to a 5 gal fabric pot and added coco.

Looks like you got things cruising along! Any update on your "oh no hermies?" situation? It did look a bit like nanners up there...

What I thought were "balls" were just pre-flowers. New grower panic moment, lol. I haven't seen any nanners yet. Did you see something in one of the pics? I may have missed it, but with all the stress they've seen I wouldn't be surprised.

That's a great looking canopy, and nice to see the leaves are starting to get a little frosting on them.

Thanks! They are getting frosty indeed. I've lowered the nutes to 1.1 ec. It's day 5 of week 7 and the trichomes are pretty much 100% and little to no amber. I plan to flush 5-10 days. Patiently waiting, but I don't want to wait too long.

The Canopy.

Lol Sonora.

Thanks Stewie. I'm really surprised at how well everything has turned out considering everything I've put these ladies through. It's definitely been a fun learning experience. The only major downside is the clones I took of these didn't make it. I'm thinking of starting with seeds next round. I have some changes to make to the bloom room or I'd already have something in vegging on deck.

How did you bring them back I know cannabis can take a beating but how did effect your yield? If it did

The plant that was the worst off has the biggest nugs once it caught up. I'm not certain yield was affected. I lowered my PPMs and flushed to about 30% run off a few times. Once I made some adjustments to my overfeeding and possibly salts I fixed what had to have been lockout. Instead of increasing cal mag dramatically or making constant changes to my nute strengths I just ran lower doses (1/2 strentgh usually) per watering. My environment has been consistent throughout and I think that has helped a lot. I don't know how much yields were affected. The only thing I've noticed is stalled or slower plant growth. The plant below went from terrible to great almost overnight. I defoliated that one like mad, removing a LOT of damaged leaves. Iit bounced back incredibly.

I have 1 Master Kush that didn't bounce back as well, but still should yield reasonably. Probably half as much as the other MKs

Looks great I'm aiming for some results like yours. Do you think I should Scrog fast bud gsc autoflowers?
