Re: lightin help..

what type of lighting would be good for 5 plants that just sprout about a week..

no doubt, then you should think about building yourself a CFL reflector so you can get alot of CFL's in one area. If your growing 5 plants your going to want alot of CFL's heres a good link for a DIY reflector Diy Custom CFL Growlight

also check out this section of the forums there is so many DIY cfl reflectors, browse around your bound to find something you can make

If you could take a photo of your CFL lights then these guys can help you better , all we see is a tall plant , not LST'd or topped . How many lights and what wattages are over the plant ?

you're not going to get much further unless you get more light asap, they will start to die soon bro.

those are stretching something fierce. more light is needed big time... those look like 13w cfls. you should be going minimum 23 watt ones, and way closer to the plants.

haha look back at my first 4 post, i told him he needed more light since he first asked the question. You should take advice when people are giving it to you bro! Most people on this site know there shit , some are a little more biased then others every one has there ways but there are essentials that you need like lumens per square foot of space/ lots of things you need to account for! i know how it is to jump into a grow and then figure out you dont have the shit you need to keep it going and it falls to shit. Dont let a small problem become a big one. get more lights, even if it means buying a 5 pack of 25w cfls at lowes and getting a few more sockets. Or splurge on a $150 400 digital dimmable ballast and light kit comes with absolutely everything you need and you can run it at 200w if you dont want to pump a full 400w the whole time/ later bro

take the plunge and get yourself a HPS of some kind. Most of us closet/cab guys start with the cfl's and then end up love growing and buying an hps. I started with 12 cfls then added 2 70w hps security lights. All that was a PITA!

Then I bought a 400w, then upgraded to 600w hps digital that is putting out some fantastic buds. Heat is an issue, but it's worth it.

All those splitters for the cfl's are a pain and I think dangerous also if you aren't careful. And you get a better bang for your buck with HPS.

You can get a 150w hps from HTG for $70 that is about 16,000 lumens. That is about the same as 10 23w cfls which will be 230w. So you save 80w power to get the same effect. You can get a 600w kit for around $200. or a dimmable kit 600w for $220. They include the hood and bulb.

They carry a few cheap LED's also, but I am still doing research before switching to LED.

I know guys that use cfl's and grows very good bud.
Most hps growers grow EXCELLENT bud.

There is no comparison between my first grow and my last, part the light and part me learning and getting better with each grow. I have 5 grows under my belt and I am growing stuff that is knocking peoples socks off. No one in town is showing me anything as good as I am growing.

If you do stick with the cfl's, make sure you do as much as possible to optimize your grow. Using some LST or scrog to get all the bud sites up top and close to the lights.

Do your research and take a few pointers from the posts you like reading. Tweek it to your liking and you should do OK.

The exception to the most HPS growers grow excellent bud is this;
I sold my 400w to a guy when I upgraded to the 600w. He lent it to a guy who doesn't want any advice from me because he said the guy bought two books and wants to go by the book. Well I'm not sure what books he read, but he gave me about a 1/4 oz of what the guy grew and it is THE WORST tasting weed I ever smoked. Honest. I don't even know if it is any good, because I can't get past the taste. I told him to take it back.

PS
genetics, genetics, genetics. get some good seeds.
