How far away should a 400 watt metal halide light be above the tips of a mj plant.(2 week old plants)

If I remember correctly about 12 inches, Also a good rule of thumb to go by is hold you hand over the top of your plant for 1 minute if its to hot for your hand its to hot for your plant
