Light during dark cycle?

I read somewhere that you could use a "green light" to look at your plants during budding when the lights are off without disturbing the dark time. what is a green light or is that even something that exists? I thought maybe they might have meant blacklight?

Yes, when the lights are off you can use a green colored light bulb for light when grow lights are off. The plants will not absorb the green light.

so just a regular incandescent thats colored green? like those green party light blubs at wal-mart?
