BOULDER, Colo. – Boulder officials will consider a resolution stating the city will provide a legal defense to employees who regulate medical marijuana businesses if they face federal prosecution.
The Boulder City Council plans to discuss the resolution Tuesday. The Boulder Daily Camera reports that memos this year from the U.S. Department of Justice worried some city employees. That's because the documents said state and local ordinances would not be a defense for civil or criminal enforcement of federal law.
The resolution would say the city would provide employees a legal defense if they are charged civilly or criminally for working under the city's medical marijuana ordinance.
