LED

1000 watt gav.
Is going to take some matching LED wise.
If it was me it would be a simple choice.
A 1000 watt LED or 800 watt @Mars Hydro
Pretty sure there are a few sponsors on here that have a 1000 watt model.
BUT still would not say it will beat a good dialed in Gav grow.
Without some canopy play.
Those gavs can penetrate a canopy real well vs a led.

Yes I know the gavita are a brilliant light. But I’ve just seen jungle boys on cannabis cribs or something like that and they are claiming the luxx one they use matches a 1000 watt hps. I was hoping it wasn’t just bollocks

There is lux, and then there is penetration. Your Gav does both well, the LED only the first.

[hearsay]To get comparable yields, you would have to SCROG or SOG.[/hearsay] Or so they say. I cant say I notice a lot of difference between budsize on my plants between the 200W LED and the 250W HPS. Below the screen that is.

So yah, consensus seems to be the hearsay part, but so far I'm not convinced. Disclaimer: still getting familiar with the quircks of my current girls, could be me holding the HPS one back.

I’ve just seen one on mars claim 3g/w … was 800 w I think

Those claims are generally based on SCROG or SOG setups when talking LED, afaik, due to the penetration 'problem' LED has.

Edit: they also somewhat track reality. Tho its not just your light that determines yield ofc.

not a lighting guru by any stretch but we have an app for that and his name is @Bluter…. way I heard it was his claim to fame = flashing lights from earth to be visible on Jupiter

still the gav is single source so it’s got to bend at the edges versus how many freaking chips? a metric crap ton of sources led light built on frame to cover a wide footprint.

Hi , which Leds would replace a gavita 1000de ?
Thanks
One that is designed to cover the area more evenly (unless 1:1 greenhouse), has spectral control options via dimmers, uses monochromatic enhancements to fill the gaps in regular white which is deficient & excessive at the same time because they were poorly made for human vision. These white leds have plagued humans, animals + plants for over a decade & have caused serious problems to all x3. That is why it is imperative to use an led system that is specifically Horticultural. Not because the manufacturer says it is. Many of These are likely the least hortri-specific being white dominant or a splash off 660. Avoid those spectrums for optimal results. A well tuned burple + white combo has proven over the last decade to provide the most desired results from Horticultural to Human-Centric. Essentially you want a Hortri-Centric led. There is only one to my knowledge.
Others will outperform hps but that's their limiting factor where with leds there are no limits within technological grasp.
