LAWNDALE CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2006 - 6:30 P.M.
LAWNDALE CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBER
14717 BURIN AVENUE
Lawndale, California 90260
Come and stand up for Safe Access in the South Bay tonight! With the
prohibition in Torrance and Gardena right now, regulated collectives in the
South Bay are needed badly.
There are two versions of the ordinance to be passed. One includes on-sight
consumption, and one bans it. Use these talking points to help show the
Council why on-sight consumption is so important:
-Since the Cities of Berkeley and San Francisco and the Counties of LA,
Kern, and Alameda adopted regulations allowing for on-sight consumption,
complaints of patients consuming in the neighborhoods around collectives
have been non-existent.
-Patients consuming in the neighborhoods is a consistent concern with
collectives. There is simply no need for patients to medicate outside a
collective when they can do it inside.
-Stipulations requiring proper ventilation and water for patients are
commonly included in regulations.
-Allowances of only vaporization delivery devices can ensure a safe,
smoke-free area for patients to medicate.
-Many patients require lengthy travel to get to their collective. A safe,
secure, and immediate location to medicate in is invaluable to the most ill
patients in our community.
Please come and stand up for Safe Access in LA! Be sure to remember that
even if the Council decides against on-sight consumption, regulated
collectives are still a victory for patients, and the Council should be
applauded for their compassion and common sense!
Thanks
