Las Vegas Dispensary Trip Report

Friday I returned from Las Vegas, staying downtown near the Fremont Street Experience. Before going, I researched dispensaries, and the Med Men downtown location was cheaper, overall, than the others. Probably because of the rent. They are located in a little red building with a buzz-in door.
Once inside, you show your id's and get buzzed in from there to a showroom. In the showroom, all product is under locked plexiglass cases. Menus are on electronic wall boards - actually TVs. And the first time you go you get an edible sample. If you want one.
The staff is young, friendly and helpful, and answer all your questions. They take cash and debit cards only, and purchases are placed in these cute, smell-proof red bags that seal and have a zipper. All product is placed in child-proof containers.
I'm not going to recommend anyone break the law, but it seems to me that one could safely bring these home in checked luggage without incident. Not that I would actually know that, or anything.
The quality seems wonderful. I loved the edibles.
I was also pleased, when comparing the herb with what I grow, to find that my potency was right up with theirs.
Now, some issues:
If you are staying in Vegas, in a hotel, you have no real comfortable place to smoke it. So use edibles instead.
Good to know? Most Uber or Lyft drivers will pick you up free and take you to the dispensary. You have to call the dispensary and have them send the driver. They get paid.
I will be happy to answer questions.

Did you see any seeds for sale?

Didn't find any rules for seeds on their site, but Nevada a bit "different" than most States that allow it on growing as you can only grow if you don't have a State licensed Dispensary with 25 miles of you, if one closer then you can't grow it.

Re: Hotels...

Is it from hotels being non-smoking?

Sounds like a hotel with a balcony may be a good option?

Off their site:

Consuming marijuana
Adults 21 years and older can legally consume marijuana, but with restrictions on where it can be consumed:

  • You cannot use marijuana in any public place
  • You cannot use marijuana in a moving vehicle, even if you're a passenger
Essentially, this means it can only be consumed on private property (at home, for example), and as long as the property owner has not prohibited it.

So if in public eye is defined as a public place I imagine (or how the define meaning of that here in OR, here they also include parks, hiking trails etc... as off limits), same as hotel (property owner) can not allow it like regular smoking. How much they enforce that is hard to say, but say next room over doesn't like it if they go out on their balcony, etc...

Quite interesting. Thanks!

off their site again:

Public consumption
A person who smokes or otherwise consumes marijuana in a public place, in a retail marijuana store, or as a passenger in a moving vehicle is guilty of a misdemeanor punished by a fine of not more than $600.

Oregon likes to spell things out more (less confusion ;) well sorta kinda not really  ) yet OR penalty more for public consumption (again who knows how much they enforce it but they can if they want):

In Public
There is no fine or penalty for possession of 1 ounce or less of marijuana in public. However, the use of any marijuana is a class B violation punishable by a maximum fine of $1,000.

OR definition of a "public place":

Q: What is the definition of a public place?
A:
Chapter 475B defines a public place as “a place to which the general public has access and includes, but is not limited to, hallways, lobbies, and other parts of apartment houses and hotels not constituting rooms or apartments designed for actual residence, and highways, streets, schools, places of amusement, parks, playgrounds and premises used in connection with public passenger transportation.”

Also remember Federal land a different can of worms (National Parks...so don't light up at Hoover Dam):

Federal Land and Properties in Oregon
Remember what we said about marijuana still being illegal in the eyes of the federal government. That means that your right to possess recreational marijuana does not apply on federal or tribal lands in Oregon. That includes national forests, national parks, national monuments, military bases, federal courthouses, and other federal properties. You can't consume, grow, transport, or possess marijuana on any federal lands managed by federal agencies like the National Parks Service and the Bureau of Land Management. If you're caught cultivating or lighting up at a federal park you could face a hefty fine of up to $250,000 and jail time.

As I said in another thread they come up with some real head scratchers, example you can grow 4 plants in OR but possession limit on seeds (in public or at home same rules) is 10 seeds ....... I mean who the heck came up with that totally unrealistic freaking number ;) and do they even have a freaking clue about it :rofl:

Wow. That is some funny shit right there. 10 seeds is hysterical. Heck, one grow goes off kilter and you’re in trouble! :D

We’re allowed 6 in flower, 6 in veg, and 6 seedlings/clones overall. Nothing about seeds. Not perfect, but could be a whole lot worse.
