VANCOUVER -- Medical marijuana patient and activist Ken Hayes is back home
after being released, without bail, and ordered to appear before a judge
tomorrow morning. Mr. Hayes expressed his appreciation to the Canadian
authorities for honoring his request to seek political asylum.
A total of seven arrests have been made so far, with charges against Ed
Rosenthal, and others that carry a maximum of 40 years in prison. One
alleged grower arrested in connection with this case is facing life in
prison.
"We believe that other raids and arrests against individuals and clubs are
imminent," said Steve Kubby, founder of the American Medical Marijuana
Association. "Today's illegal and immoral raids are just the beginning of a
new wave of government sponsored terrorism to uphold their failed drug war.
The greatest atrocities always occur at the end of each war and this insane
drug war is no exception."
