Just potted my seedlings - When do I start giving them light?

Hi,

I have just potted my 3 seedlings, and I have 3 x 100 watt CFL lamps. I have turned on the lamps just now...is that ok or do I have to keep the seedlings in darkness until I see it sprout?

From the moment my seeds sprout they are under 18/6 light. For the first several days I keep the light a little further away from them but your 100W CFL's will be fine 6 inches away or so so the first bit. After that I would keep them only a few inches away.

You can put them under some light if you want too but its not needed at all! The light would serve zero purpose to your seedlings as they haven't popped up from the dirt yet.
Others will say, "oh yeah they need light so they are encouraged to pop up", NAH not needed at all. But if you want to turn on one of your cfl's in the mean time before they pop up then go for, it wont hurt anything either. Good luck and if you need any more help just ask!
