Just a 70 year old sod

Hi y'all,
I've been a smoker since 1965 when I was a boy of 15. I grew up in Dallas, but now live in Dorset, England, where I am lucky enough to have a big enough back yard to put up a poly-tunnel green house and am growing 7 Diesel autoflowers. I have tried for more than 10 years to grow photoperiod plants, but by the time the harvest is due the buds are full of mould. I hope to break the spell of bad luck with something that doesn't take until September (start of the rainy season) to harvest.

I know autoflowers don't care for nutrients (they're potted in Canna Terra Plus), but is are there any other hints to be gotten?

Steve

Welcome, @srbmsun . I have no answers other than control humidity and temp - and make a grow journal and you'll have help/advice coming out of your ears.

I'm not sure how to control the humidity/temp other than to close the flap/door. June's temperature has averaged 50 degrees, and rainy. At least my girls are dry, and are still in the vegetative phase. It's supposed to warm up to the high 60s and low 70s later in the week. I've chosen mould-resistant hybrids in order to lessen the chance of bud mould. What's a grow journal?

I reckon if they were out out rather than in a poly tunnel youd get more luck with mould. Maybe a strain change would help aswell? Critical, white widow, some hindu or afghan crosses etc. Should do alright oh maybe some FAST flower strains are what you are looking for. Im running C99 x Blueberry fast as we speak. Got one outdoors aswell ;). If moving out of the polytunnel aint an option then riggin up some intake ductin, an extraction fan and a decent fan inside the tent blowing a breeze through em.
Im on this nasty, rainy little isle aswell bud. Welcome to the Mag :D

This is the first year I've put them in a polytunnel due to the fact that exposed buds seem to retain water from all the rain, and that can hasten mould. My thoughts are that if the buds are dry, and they'll be ready by mid-July/first of August, then there won't be enough time to get drenched over and over. I'm using a moisture meter to tell me when to water -- I used to water every 3 -4 days. I've got an electronic microscope that will send live pictures of the trichomes to my iPhone so I'll know when to harvest, and a cvault waiting to cure them all. I'm trying to do this the professional/analytical way this time. It's damn near impossible to find weed when you're 70!

Welcome,srbmsun,from a 65 year old sod... :welcome:

As @Bilbobudkin420 suggested- some fan action in the polytunnel
should keep the bud rot away!

I'm going to bring them out next week when the temperatures are normal again (hell, nothing is normal in England), more seasonal at 68 - 70 degrees. When there's rain, or gale-force winds in the forecast they will go back in the greenhouse, and I will run a fan.

Well a hundred and eleven years ago...when I was 10 :rofl::rofl: Y'all sound like the beginning to "Young Guns"
:welcome: to :420:srbmsun:passitleft:
I thought one had to confess your real age in order to join this sub-forum. No 30- year old would pretend to be a child of the 60s. BTW, I graduated high school in 1968. I remember the Chicago Seven.

No that's about the time they stopped using their imagination :hmmmm: and everything went digital

They feed exactly the same as photos mate. Only difference is you gotta judge when to start using bloom nutes.
