Jon's First Outdoor Grow: Sugar Breath Photoperiod & Strawberry Banana Autoflower

How many leaves look like that and where are they on the plant?
I meant Calcium, not Mg, sorry. I know Calcium is a rarish thing to be lacking but all the pics I could find sure look a lot like what I have going on. Thoughts? (When you have time....thanks....)

Oh, sorry. Thought this was your Sohum water-only soil. Doesn't look like a Mg def to me. That tends more toward yellowing and then spotting, while this looks seems to be draining the leaf (leaving flattened areas) and making the leaflets curl under.

Are you feeding it BP or relying on the FF "nutrients" to do it at this stage?
I fed BP week 1 and 2 cuz they start in seedling at week 1. 1 and 2 are the same, very very light. See my last post? I meant Calcium.

Hell, it's only in a one gallon pot. Why don't I just flush it, then add cal mag with whatever the last volume of flush water is, and see what happens? Does that sound reasonable?

I'm not sure what the cal-mag content is on the BP line you're using, but if it's low you could add some (unless it's the BP calmag, which is really high in N).

Seems hard to believe you would need to flush a 20-day old plant in a 1 gallon pot!
That's my fall back. Shouldn't be necessary, you're absolutely right, I was deferring to my old fallback and I need to evolve. She's also supposed to get the start of week 3 of BP nutes tomorrow. So maybe I'll just stick to the plan and add CalMag plus Iron, the Humboldt's Secret stuff, to that mix. It can't hurt. If it's not that, the problem will get worse and I can see what else is going on?

It is the "Elite" Series. You add micro, veg, and bloom to every mix. Three liquids in bright green, bright neon pink, and dark purple, lol. Very very easy to use. All you do is get the amount of each right, ph it, and you're done. That part I like. I read the Calmag numbers and to my inexperienced eye they seem a bit low - .05 in the veg and 1.5 in the bloom, none in the micro. But that's not a particularly educated eye.

God, so glad you said that about the N in the BP cal mag. I have been using that. So far no problem, but it's 8%!!!! The Humboldt's Secret I have is 2%!!! If I need it I'll go back to that. THANKS, THAT'S HUGE.

Hey @StoneOtter, this one's for you. I'm putting you on the spot cuz I know you can handle it and cuz I'm hoping there's others like me on their first outdoor grow who might benefit from a quick Q and A between us. Cool?

So here's my thing:

There's a constant breeze where I live and where the plants are. No matter where I put them. It dies to basically nothing at night, but for 8 hours a day these guys are getting hammered with wind. Maybe not hammered, but hit hard enough that I *suspect* they are wasting energy that could be going to making buds on maintaining a posture against the wind. So my first question is, is that statement possible?

Then let's say it is and I don't want that, obviously. Well, short of breaking my stealth in a problematic way, I don't have any way to turn off the wind during the day. However, there is one option. There are a few places in the yard where I could put the photos outside and never have to move them. They'd be wind protected, and lights from houses at night protected. Here's the rub.....it's a shady spot for almost the entire day. Not super dark shady, but definitely not the direct sunlight I've been dragging them around to keep them under.

So the question is, do I save the wind burn and sacrifice some direct sunlight? Or is it better to anchor tough against the wind as best I can, and leave them in direct sun as long as possible each day. I mean, how much is a lot of wind consistently going to compromise my flowering? And no, building a wind screen around them is not an option, unfortunately. Too attention grabbing.

I know you dealt with some elements and such in your recent Stankberry grow. Any advice? Thank you!!!!!

:thanks:
Sorry about the late answer Jon, I didn't see a notification. That's a hard one. I've heard they like 6 hours of sun/day minimum. That's what mine get up here, maybe slightly more some weeks. And I couldn't tell you about wind. People talk about it, I've run fans on full at plants with no issues so I don't know. Not enough experience to really say.

Fair enough, and thanks. I solved it anyway. They still get their 8 hours or so of real good light and a couple of shade, but I got some metal, coated in plastic, SERIOUS rods that are 4 feet long, and I have the plants tied on various angles and heights to keep them pretty much in place, even when it's real windy. So I don't think it's a problem. The plants show not the slightest sign of anything but loving life, so I'm going with it.

Blueberry Photo Day 1
Strawberry Lemonade Photo Day 1

Ha! For the second time in my "career," I got a seed just tossed in the dirt to sprout! Yay. I love me some Blueberry.

Very excited about the Strawberry Lemonade too. I haven't posted on that strain, so here's a link I found from @ProfessorFlora that says more about it than any literature from Barney's Farm or resellers. And it was grown and written by one of our own! Excellent review PF, thanks! Here's the link:

So both these girls are in threes, by necessity, and both are in about 75% coco/25% Fox Farms OF/HF blend, with the FF on the top three or four inches and then all coco underneath. Did not have time to get Bokashi on @Bill284's suggestion, but next time I will be using his mix. Heh. Anyway, since they're basically in coco after the first ten days or so, I'm going to simply give them water Ph'ed at 6.3 for the first week, and starting after that I'll Ph the water to 5.8, also per Bill's suggestion. More like an edict. LOL.

They are getting Fox Farms nutes. Never tried Ph-ing FF nutes to 5.8 before. Wonder how much Ph up and down I'll use? Also wondering just how often I am going to have to water these puppies. Lol.

They will live in the @Mars Hydro rig until they are big enough to strand up to the outside environment (the "all the way outside" environment, lol), and then they'll hit the yard for 10 of sun, 10 of LED until theyre about 2 feet tall or maybe a bit more, then we'll toss them in the yard to go to bud. I"m going to keep them small despite knowing a three will support a larger plant because I want the roots to have space for flower, and if I veg them too long the three will be filled with roots before the flip. I think. Flying a bit blind. But I am kind of expecting the roots are going to build up faster in coco than they do in soil.

So that's about it, here's the babies!!!

Hey Jon busy as usual I see.
Bokashi and frass produce microbes and fungi that help with nutrient uptake and root health.
Happy roots = Happy fruits.
Well I thought it was funny.
Stay safe Amigo.

@NextLight Autoflower Rig Check In
Day 52
Focus: Strawberry Banana #1

This rig STINKS. Plain and simple. All five plants reek. All are jamming and on autopilot. Nothing but water, molasses, and Terpinator from here on out. Should be another three weeks or so.

They look stinky! Love the colors!

NTH
Heh. The SBs stink, but the Gelato, even though she's the least frosty so far, stinks by FAR the most. It REEKS. I guess it's a late froster.

Hey how are you doing today Jon.
If it's not too late I'd add a couple things to your coco.
Bokashi is readily available on Zon.
You can add it to soil aswell you really should be using this product.
I also use a product called Frass & Dazzle. Proprietary blend.
But you can just order insect frass.
Microbes & Fungi, seriously the future of growing is right there.
Happy roots big fruits.
Check my Gorilla Glue thread, it's all right there.
Directions for coco growing monsters, hehe.
Stay safe my friend.
Bill
Hey Bill. I have a bag of frass. When I mix soil how does it affect it? Do I have to be concerned with npk? How much is recommended?

Heh. The jerk is going to tell you it's all in his journal and to look there. Yeah, he makes you do the work.

2 Most UNexpected Things....

I went out to move the plants around, and I thought I wasn't posting in here anymore today. Then I saw these two things and I had to. Both of these were 100% unexpected, not in general, but today. The Raspberry Parfait is only on day 16 of flower. And I didn't think I was giving birth again today either.

But here you go. Why did I bring up the Raspberry Parfait?

Cuz of this.

- Raspberry Parfait, Grow Day 52, Flower Day 16, FIRST SIGN OF FROST
- Dos-Si-Dos Fast Flowering Photoperiod DAY ONE - All the plants are UP! 15 for 15!
