J9Black's 1st Grow Ever - Phototron Pro - Grow Tent - Cloning

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

Well, I added even more used coffee grounds and ordered some FF grow formula.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

I will post Images tomorrow. Not a single WhWi has so much as sprouted! All soil grows have been bag seeds. Did the government irradiate my seeds?!

:hmmmm:

Hi J9B, just wanted to ask if you scarified the WhWi seeds before you put them in water. Sometimes you have to scuff them a bit so water penetrates the shell. Some seeds have a very hard shell. Also how did the exhale work for you?

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

The Exhale seems to be working, but I wouldn't know how to know.

I wish I had your advice earlier! What I've done is add some tomato seeds. If the WhWi decide to compete and thrive, great. If not, I'll grow some tomatoes. The bag seeds are responsible now for five seedlings plus the suffering Taylor and Michael.

I have added some more coffee grounds and ordered some Nitrogen nutrients.

Go Tebow...

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

Also, I have confirmed purple stems... I am certain it is a nitrogen deficiency.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

I will compare and contrast the bud production between the Phototron and my soil grows. We all have a lot longer to a wait on that one.

With respect to my nitrogen deficiency problem, the cause was elementary. Uh, duh...the soil. I had started my soil grows using "Seed Starter", which has worked beautifully for all of my seeds that weren't WhWi feminized from Am$terdam.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

Here is the best part....Michael and Taylor are making a Tebow like comeback. The yellows appear to be greening up and the plants *seem* to be more robust. Pics tomorrow morning.

I credit the coffee grounds, and the Hydroponics store for hooking me up with an awesome foliar sprayer and wetting agent. The WoWo teen transplants were rebounding nicely but s-l-o-w-l-y. After the foliar treatments, the girls sprang to life. One half inch in the last six days.

My SIX new bag ladies are greener and almost taller than Michael or Taylor. Purplish stems, but, I am treating them. Of course the seedlings are like sticks in contrast to the bushier older girls. So, I now have 11 plants, almost the legal limit. Of course, some of the seedlings--heck, even older girls might not make it.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

There will be more nitrogen loading and then eventual transfer to some 3 gallon pots with some Fox Farm that I picked up at the....wait for it...hydroponics store.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

OK, I contrasted the current photos with earlier pictures and the girls are growing and recovering well. The Phototron II Pro continues work well and impress me. The Feed-A-Tron(r) is working well.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

I would say, problem "solved". Michael, Taylor and the Fates look decidedly greener and healthier. I wonder if I introduced the carbon dioxide generator too early. The plants had so much CO2 to work with but the nitrogen just wasn't keeping up. That could explain the awesome initial response and later fade. Sure, the soil was wrong....but the CO2 was too much to handle. Based on what I see of the Bag Lady Castaways, my theory is further substantiated.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

I thought I had made a mistake on the soil, but I was mistaken. I was in fact using the "Super Soil" mentioned earlier in the thread. Regardless, the symptoms are consistent with nitrogen deficiency--which has been addressed...BUT, I'm convinced now this was brought on by a CO2 overdose.

Regardless, I'm going to keep my CO2 (Exhale) generator right where it is and just load up on nitrogen. Coffee anyone?

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

Nice! My WW seeds did awesome. I use the paper towel method. They are currently going with out sun screen on a 600 watt sun soaked beach lol. Good luck with your grow man. I know how ya feel when you get the bug and start growing shit just to be growing it, LOL. I am now growing rosemary, tarragon, tomatoes, peppers god you name it. I have decided that salsa and buds on the couch are in my foreseeable future.:high-five:

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

Thanks Lord Indica. I do have the bug to grow. The green beans are rocking and rolling. The other plants--including carrots and tomatoes--didn't do so well. I think I should have *started* with a larger pot for all of them. Until Spring, I'm going to focus on herbal medicinal plants like Echinacea, Milk Thistle, Burdock, Fever Few, Lemon Balm, Valerian, Cayenne (etc.).

Why do the Apothecary Sciences have to be delivered by Herbalife?

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

The plants are maybe 18" tall. The internodal length is awesome. If any of you ever buys one, make sure you get the Feed-A-Tron II.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

Bag Lady Castaways were transplanted to a pot. I didn't separate them. I will be experimenting with them to see what happens when so many seedlings compete. I won't mind moving them later to a 3 gallon container. I will probably have to weed a few out.

Besides the joy, yes joy, in gardening cannabis...I am enjoying the science.

Michael and Taylor are almost completely dark green. I am going to slow down on the nitrogen foliar spraying. The three fates are greening up nicely. So, it now looks like I can settle in on a nice long vegetative growth. I am in no hurry to flower. I won't mind getting a bit more medicine from another patient if it comes to it.

I have a nice sandbox to play in. If I can get four or five ounces from the currently vegetating grows, that will cover me for the year. Anything from the Bag Ladies is icing. I will then do one more grow using fresh clones from another patient--one of a different strain. I will always have something growing in the Phototron even when the grow tent is shut down for the summer.

This journey that you have so courageously embarked upon has taken on a life of it's own. You can know sit back quietly and view the saga from your favorite chair and speculatively gauge all other grows by the fruitfulness of Michael and Taylor's progress. Long live the seed, Long live the nutritious soil that we placed them in! Long live the effects of photosynthesis, and long live the water molecule that makes it all worthwhile. :thumb:
