J9Black's 1st Grow Ever - Phototron Pro - Grow Tent - Cloning

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

Oh, and half the top LED lights shut off for this stage. Everything else looks the same.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

Im liking your grow room..how much did that tent type box cost you. Ive never seen one before. Well i hope your ww arive and i hope taylor and michael give u a great harvest

I wasnt giving you a hard time or "savaging" you on your box...i was full on complimenting you on it. Are you always this good with compliments? Anywho i hope you have a good grow and i deffinately wont be back on this thread again that way you dont feel all insecure about being "savaged" on your awesome box i was curious about.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

My seeds from amsterdammarijuanaseeds.com finally arrived. Now I can get going and growing known females.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

WW Feminized are planted in WW1 and WW2 cups. I will name them if they germinate. Probably, Clotho and Atropos.

So these two WW-FEM seeds are on the "seedling" setting. If nothing happens in a few days then I will move Michael and Taylor to the grow tent, and switch settings on the Phototron Pro to germination once again.

Exciting stuff.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

Even my bumbling hands were able to get the grow tent put together the way I envisioned it. The grow tent temperature movement is stable. I have the 400 watt MH set to 200, and air is moving nicely through it with the variable speed inline fan. I will add the charcoal filter next month. . The new ratchet hangers were well worth the extra dough; they completely outclassed the yoyo hangers.

Because of this, I have transplanted Michael and Taylor into round 1 gallon pots filled with Supersoil Moist--and moved them into the tent. The WW1 and WW2 are germinating in the peet, and I have two other seeds germinating via paper towel.

In theory, I will have 4 WW seedlings, and two unknowns. If four WWs, one will be moved to the grow tent along with Michael and Taylor. If either Michael or Taylor become boys, or the WW for that matter...I may just decide to make seeds. I am not sure yet.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

Oh, I reset the Phototron Pro back to germinating for the two WW.

I am afraid to say it has been easy so far. Everything except getting the seeds. Oh, and the guy with the clones has been unresponsive.

I wouldn't have gotten this far without this site and the blogosphere.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

OK, none of the two WWs has poked above the soil line, but no worries. The three WW seeds I have in the wet paper towel are doing great but maybe need another day or two before I move them to the seed medium.

Michael and Taylor are doing fine even though they were transplanted early.

While rearranging the grow tent, the MH light popped out and stopped working. I had no idea what the problem was, but replacing the fuse (sourced from Home Depot) did the trick.

Here are some pics of the grow chamber of the Phototron, along with some pictures of my grow tent, as primitive as it is.

Or a good setup for an accident waiting to happen. Thanks for the hint, I'll move it down low.

Thanks.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

@Nugs, I'm into food preservation--and now definitely herb preservation. What do use for vacuum sealing? That's important to me. The Food Saver tool was a PoS waste of money.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

None of the WW have popped up. One WW germinated in a paper towel sprouted a tiny root so I've moved it into the growth chamber.

The green beans' roots are huge. I expect they'll be transplanted sooner than any of the WW.

Michael and Taylor are viable and strong even so soon after the transplant. They might be males, but they sure grow easily enough. If either WW I or WW II drag into Sunday night without a sprout, each will get moved into the grow tent. WW III has a root so I know that may be in motion.

This indoor grow of medicine has a evinced a companion interest in home farming of foods and other medicinal plants like chamomile. If I have to build up another larger tent to move my flowering herbs to, I will...growing green beans, strawberries, etc. in the current tent.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

None of the WWs has popped. No worries. I am ticked with the customer service of the clone vendors on craigslist. No return messages.

Every plant is now in the grow tent. I decided to do this because I liked how Michael and Taylor responded to the warmer brighter environment. I really, really need to get three clones going in the Phototron Pro if I am going to be certain of having medicine dried and ready by the time I run out.

With 2 plants growing and three in the germination stage, the odds are I will have one female that can provide Meds come April. I have also seen red come up on the wheel 10 times in a row.

I don't want to take chances, I want some female clones in the Phototron!

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

Oh, and the green beans are rocking in the grow tent. I also have carrots germinating along with purple tomatillos. I will be also be growing cilantro...and i hope to celebrate my first grow with some homegrown medicine and a bowl of freshly grown and prepared salsa for the Final Four (r).

I will be using netting for vertically gardening vegetables/legumes. I might decide to SCROG the two "Pat" like strains currently making a go of it.

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

The good news is I've scored three clones and transplanted them into the sphagnum moss, but I'm not sure I did it right. Yes, the roots are in the moss and the leaves on top, but there doesn't seem to be a lot to hold the plants up.

Also, I've put almost a gallon of "Protect" mix and have plenty of puddle at the bottom...but I keep getting notifications to add water.

Help?

Re: J9Black's 1st Grow Ever: Phototron Pro/Grow Tent/Cloning

It looks like my "patience" is paying off. Leaving the girls alone in the Phototron Pro, they seem to be literally taking root. They haven't recovered but I see what *I think* are signs of life and resiliency. I suppose if they were going to die, I would see more evidence of it after 4.5 days.

I do see death in the bottom leaf set of at least one plant. This leaf set is almost buried in the sphagnum moss, so I am seeing what I expect to see. I plan on trimming those, and other casualties of the transplant, later this morning.

I still have some questions about the Phototron Pro operation but I expect that will get sorted out when I get a return call from the company--whenever that is.

I took the opportunity of the long weekend to clean up the grow tent. I've added vertical trellis netting for my vegetables (green beans and soon a bunch of different berries). This is just personal use so I think two viable female plants (one to be a mother) out of five growing possibles is perfectly fine among a "normal" indoor garden.

If you all see anything in the pictures that doesn't look right--especially on the medicine garden, please advise.

Michael is growing larger and seemingly faster than Taylor--but I wouldn't say better. Taylor as 14 leaves on the primary leaf set above the seed leaves....and is shorter--but equally as vibrant. I don't see a lot of light stretch and the internodal length seems good.

Maintaining temperature consistency and range has been easier than I thought.

I've been specifically watering away front the main plant stem, watering around the edges of the pot and keeping a pool (occasionally) at the bottom to try to get the roots to grow deeper and more completely at this young stage. I'll look at a more complete watering/drip/fertilizing system after Christmas.

I've told my wife that all I want for Christmas is gardening stuff, including a food dehydrator. *Indoor/hydroponic* gardening has proven to be an interesting personal hobby. Like everything, it all needs to be balanced in.
