Is it worth it to grow with CFLs?

Ive been debating growing for a while, well theres no debate about it. i want to grow, but i want to try to do everything right. i know i wont b/c im a noob at it. but ive read numerous books, mags, websites(this one) to expand my knowledge. and i was wondering if i should use a bunch of CFLs to get my lumens in and reduce heat, power. or just go ahead and get a HPS/ballast? can you grow a good crop with CFLs? Any info will be appreciated. sorry about the lenghty thread. stay green. peace.

I'd start with flouros then buy a hsp light for flowering. Thats what I'm about to do. The veg part goes fine with just flouros. I haven't flowered with them though.
