Indicas Grow & Experimenting Genetics Part II - Winter Indoor Organic Grow

Quick Update:

Since Sunday I left my plants on their own because I am out of town, Im freaking out because last time I left my tent unsupervised it damaged my experiment. Im just hoping they are not dead by now.

We will see tomorrow what the damage is.

After 3 days by themselves results are not alarmingly bad, some dry dead leaves, the space was very dry but the temperatures did not go pass 30 Celsius. They are taking it really slow, this is 11 days since 12/12 started. Pheno#3 is becoming a pain If I neglect this plant for anything I will lose her to auto pollination, some of these pollen bananas come in the same Calyx as the pistils... but anyways Im taking her to the finish line no matter what.

Another thing is I really wanna try a better Organic Soil recipe.

You already knew I was going to chime in here danishoes. I know a really good soil recipe. :laughtwo::green_heart:

Peejay's got an awesome soil recipe that a lot of people have used/adapted well. Soilgirl and Sweetsue use variations of it to great effect. Mine has been pretty good too (in my journal) but needs more Calcium, I think. No crabshell in it.
Good luck!

Im definitely going to use all of you guys recipes, taking here and there from everyones. I started to collect some ingredients like oyster shells, shrimp shells, egg shells, peanut shells, Im waiting for the local horses to start taking dumps in the park to pick up their share, but I want to get my hands on lava rocks and ProMix MP. I gotta read all the LOS threads to see what good.

Thanks guys for suggesting :D

UPDATE

They're frosty as can be aren't they danishoes? And young plants...... They always stop me dead in my tracks. Hope for a new crop.

For fear of cross pollination she had to be taken down. I took the decision today after the routine check, I don't think its viable to have here continue
1) the yellow bananas pose a threat to the rest of the plants.
2)Despite being a super beautiful plant during veg, her wild traits make her a super complicated plant to grow. (at least for me and my setup)
3)Since this is a genetics experiments I don't want to pass down these genes, I rather work with the other two phenos with much healthy genes, for now.

She was chopped, washed completely without taking fans leaves. Set to dry in oven over night then tomorrow I will remove the foliage and cut the buds to further dry. I did check the trichomes before and they still looked clear so this is a early harvest due to the nature of the plant.

Things I've learned about this Mexican (were I got the seeds) plant, she needs long nights, probably does better in hotter temperature and doesn't like to be trained imo... These are things I will have to remember next time I venture to grow this seed. There is also a possibility that I will never get a 100% male or 100% female out of these seeds, its the second time this happens, with this same seed, maybe she is just way to sensible to the environment, so she stresses out for no reason. I will for sure work again with her, possibly during the sumer to see how the seed grows on a natural environment.

I'll be waiting to hear how she smokes dani. She grew on me. Maybe it was her wild nature.

Looks like you have an insect problem. I'm guessing thrips. Do you see black speckles on the leaves? They live on the plant and in the soil. You'll need to spray many times for the next few weeks. You should probably treat the soil too. Predatory nematodes can be applied to the soil, or mosquito dunks. Covering the soil also helps. Don't let them complete their life-cycle. I find the best time to spray is right after watering. Those suckers like to eat when the juices are flowing.

Yeah on the things to do is redo my soil mix, I can say for a fact my soil is missing nutrients. Im already working on the soil for the next grows. On the bug department can't deny Ive had my encounters with a bunch of them in the past and present, I keep adjusting as I go, I have some mixes I've come up using natural ingredients like cinnamon, garlic, sodium bicarbonate, peroxide... and many others, I make some natural bug repellents and fungicides.

I will check again for thrips, aphids and all of them pests.

thanks for the suggestions

On the smoke report, I can only say one thing right now, she was stinky good before drying (nice terpenes profile), and the trichomes are there, so Im guessing she is gonna be a nice smoke, surely not at the level I expected but "two wrongs make a right" Ill get her next time...

:allgood:

buds are definitely looking bigger than they did in past grows. if you think you have bugs you should put vinegar in a spray bottle and spray everything down twice a day.

True that b. I see a small progress on the size department. Im still below average when it comes to indoor... I think its time for me to really consider LED.

I will spray using vinegar, now does that include the plants as well?

the plants should be fine. they actually enjoy a mildly acidic environment. I'm not sure of the concentration of the vinegar that I use, but I'll check and get back to you.

Really proud of these girls, after a long run they still fighting. I can see they are gonna be really good quality meds with uplifting aura to them. After almost a month of 12/12 photoperiod the last week before 11/13 kick in for a last month of final ripening. The slowly keep popping new pistils as the bud get denser and denser, aromas kingpin in, very sweet with a citric/sour twist. A week ago I put some pollen on one lower bud of each pheno, I really hope the pollen is still good and they give out some seeds. Plants have only been water with plain H2O. last watering with fertilizer will be the same day I switch light schedule.

Update on the BC Mango Cross (fem test)

Now these little ones started on a 12/12 photoperiod, sadly no time to vegetate they are going to be rushed when clock losses one hour of light. So the story here is these are BC Bud Depot BC Mango (80%Indica/20%Sativa) seeds that where cross with my Mexican Mystery Sativa. What I want is the stable Sativa traits of these strain with the mango flavour mixed with the wild genes from the Mexican Sativa.

BC Mango »»» KC Mango x BC Mango
-----------------KC Mango»»» KC 33 x Afghan »»» Indica
---------------------------------KC 33»»» Thailand x Brazil»»» Indica/Sativa Hybrid
---------------------------------------------Thailand »»» Sativa

BC Pheno#2: More Sativa traits and showing that long stem 5 leaflet similar to the Mexican Sativa I had. I like this one.

BC Pheno#3: Sativa traits but I think a more balanced hybrid. Still some Mexican traits in there.
