Indica dominant recommendation for a new grower?

I am a new grower. I started with Sativa dominant strains, Jack Herrer, Durban Poison and an Afghan Kush. For whatever reason I had a hella time getting seeds started and ended up with just 3 of 15 seeds. Fortunately, I had great success with cloning my three babies and now have a perpetual crop (assuming I don't screw it up. My flowers ae now in day 41 of a 56 day flowering target (watching the terpenes as intructed).

I'd like to add some Indica dominant strains to my mix. Can anyone recommend a strain that might be a high potency, NOT auto flowering ystrain? I've read everything I can find about seeds and seem to lose them most often and the moment they sprout, breaking the tender leaves off - I'm tryng not to be a brute!

Photoperiod:

I use Hash Plant as my nighttime pain med and sleep med. My husband has had very good crops with it. It has approximately 12% THC and 3% CBD.

CBD Critical Cure is my anti-anxiety med. It's 8.5% THC and 6.5% CBD.

Auto - Northern Lights:
I know you said no autos but I figured I would leave this anyway because I really like it just for a nice, relaxing high. When we grew Northern Lights, it was an auto but it's a photoperiod, too, which we're planning on growing sometime.

It's also all THC at approximately 18% and CBD is <1%. We've never grown the photoperiod kind but we do have seeds for that.

Those are the only photos we've grown and used. I also use Hash Plant for my topicals. And, we're planning on learning how to make hash this winter from it as Hash Plant is really sticky so it's perfect for concentrates.

Hope this is helpful.

Critical Kush is a good yielding plant with around 20% Thc. Fairly easy to grow. I grew it a couple of years ago (my first grow).

Black Domina is a go too for me and my family. Plus it’s an easy plant to grow but can get very bushy

Blue Cheese 80/20 Indica dominate. I always thought my first grow was a Purple Bud, but it was Blue Cheese and is a wonderful soothing plant. She can get real frosty

G13 I should really look into buying some seeds. Got the strain from an illegal dispensary before legalization in Canada. This stuff hits hard and fast, great for pain/sleep

MK Ultra same as above really. Tried growing an auto of it and did poorly, but will grow a feminized seed I think outside next year

The strain you like may be different from what others like. You need to look at Terpenes & the effect that Terpene gives you. When you find the effect you like, find a strain with those Terpenes. Weed that gets me high doesn't get my wife high & visa - Versa. We like a different effect which is caused by different Terpenes.

Thanks everyone for your responses! I ended up with some nice Indica Dominant seeds from True North Seed Bank: Gelato, Eight Ball Kush and White Widow. I plan to do another grow journal of them after they arrive so I will keep you all posted!

Hey Buds I am looking into that very subject my brother and I are affected very different by the same strain so I am looking at Terpene profiles now and comparing different strains I like to see the common denominator. Cool stuff

I spent a lot of time and frankly I don't believe the ad profiles many seed banks write up. I am more interested in the real genetics than some of the new names people come up with for their "special strains".

I ended up ordering a range of seeds to try - primarily Indica dominants because I have grown Sativa's for my first crops of about 50 plants. I ordered classic Indica strains to try, Cheese, Aurora Indica, 8-Ball Kush, White Widow and even some White Widow Auto's. I am finding that I really enjoy learning about the different strains.

just starting out consider Indica strains like Norther Lights, AK-47'll let you know how they work out. I have Aurotroa very easy to grow and can take a lot of abuse and have great yields, Consider indica dominate strains like mentioned - Happy Cultivation - now the fun starts !!!!!!!!!!!
I did get some ak47 too! Yay. I will let you know how they work out. Right now I have Indica Aurora and 8-Ball Kush and both seem to be easy (so far). All 5 of the Aurora seeds and 3 of 5 8-Ball's popped well. The decision for me is at the harvest. My Sativa's have set a standard that will be hard to reach but I am gonna try!

sounds like you have some good strains - when growing sativa's one can shorten their flower times by changing light cycles (flower) from 12/12 to 11/13 or even 10/14 in flower this will shorten time by one week - for 100% sativa's start from seed at 12/12 (veg) for 2 weeks BUT BEFORE you switch to flower put plants in a 35hr dark time before starting flower at 11/13 - This will shorten flower times for 100% sativa strain cutting them down by 2 weeks ( and then use 10/14 the last week for terpen & essential oils production)

Thanks, following you now for more good advice!

Well, after all of your input and some added research I ordered from True North Seed Bank in November 2020. The order was challenging to pay for but after a few weeks working with their customer service I was able to get them to ship. The order arrived in 14 days but about half the seeds were black, dense, sank and did not sprout. I contacted customer service and they generously agreed to replace them - so I also bought more seeds - about $160 worth. Now 14 days after estimated delivery they tell me my order is likely held up in customs and I will not be refunded or replaced! What a horrible, awful, very bad experience! I actually hate this company, their policies and customer service hacks!

This sponsor is a rip off supported by REALLY poor customer service. I would NOT recommend True North to anyone ever.

PM me for some very good banks to buy from !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! true NOrth is very expensive

Thats a bummer @DRey. I’ve always received my orders from TNSB. I just never know when they’re going to show up. To the original question... I second Northern Lights. Its a classic that everybody should try once. Blueberry is another one that is awesome if you get a good cut. It’s the same with bubblegum. Another great one that you might have to search a bit for.

just curious... did your order make it to you?

PM me for some quality breeders and banks True NOrth - too expensive

just remember to keep things simple - pick a strain that can take a lot of abuse and is a good producer reference that one's that have been mentioned, consider using the LST method of growing which involves some defoliation/prunning at specific grow times (week 4 of veg Defoliate and week 4 of flower - heavy defoliation) and then thru-out grow a leaf here and there remember when removing a leaf - === the exposed site has to be twice the size of the leaf you are going to remove
