Marijuana is an annual, meaning it's life cycle's are dictated by light cycles (daylight/darkness).
In the northern hemisphere, marijuana needs the light energy of the spring for growth. Days get longer until late June and then the days start getting shorter. But the days are still long.
In late Aug. the days get shorter to the point where flowering is triggered so that pot can mature before the coldness of the late fall.
From the time flowering begins to when the plant is ready for harvesting is approx. 2 months.

If you planted seeds outside now, if they sprouted they would die. The days are too short to provide enough enbergy to the plant. If it sprouted it would grow tall and skinny to about 8" then keel over and die.

Temp's don't matter; light cycles do.

There are a few strains out there--lowryder is one of these--that do not use the cycle of the sun to determine the onset of flowering. But even if you planted those now they would die before doing anything.

My suggestion: read up on growing marijuana. Plan to plant in the spring, after the last danger of frost has passed.
April 20 is an ideal date in area's where frost has passed or in area's like SoCal where they don't get frosts.

You could also get a truely monster plant by planting indoors under a few shop lights or curly fluorecents in late March or April. Then put your plant outside. But you'll need a good hiding spot, cause your plants will get very large.

haha, iam going to let my plants veg out 4 months before i plant outdoors, iam actually thinking of cloning it by taking an air rooted clone and tie it into another pot, i have been wanting to do this for a while.

I'm with vinter, start now and veg all winter then plant outside in about may or june to make sure that they don't start to flower early from too much dark and then it will be ji-normous by the time its going into flower. I would say 24 hrs of light for the first few months then around feb or march put into 16/8 so it gets used to there being a dark period befor you transplant outdoors then mothernature will take the course.

If you start now, you'll need a very big pot/bucket though. Becoming root bound will through a plant into flowering too.

the reason this happens is not because of root bound, well it is, but the its actually from stress.

Flowering is based on light/dark cycle and has nothing to do with root bound. Altho root bound will cause other problems. :bongrip:

Ok, but I've read in the grow journals of plants that have started to show sex after a few months veg even under 18/6 lights. Does this mean they show sex but don't flower, but just stay in veg because of the light cycle? I've personally never veged a plant more than 2 months, so I don't know. I've never had the time to veg longer.

yeah plants will show their sex after about 2 monthes by putting out preflowers. they dont mean its flowering but only showing its sex.

Usually, MJ plants become sexually mature at about 3--5 weeks after sprouting.
They express sexual maturity by putting out preflowers and by alternating nodes. Clones are ready to flower as soon as they are rooted.

If you want to grow indoors here's what you have to do:
-Read a book on indoor cultivation, this will give you an idea of what the plants requirements are and help you avoid many common beginners mistakes.
-Armed with that knowledge assemble the correct lighting, soil, planters, fans and nutrients. A pH tester and pH down is highly recommended but not usually not critical.

Be aware that everyone else who lives with you will find out about that set-up.

i prefer growin outside start em in pots erly may when there bout a mounth old i put em in the ground or ive started as late as the end of july they looksd like i used the sog method cause they were all a lil over a foot but the finished product wasnt all that good cause the veg period was so short so i wont b doin that agin
