Yes unfortunately they both look male to me... I see no pistils or calyxs in either photo .

The sex part has been taken care of.
In the second photo hat are those two yellow things on the stem. They kinda look like grains of yellow rice but are they really insects? I am thinking aphids.

Man o' man, some of you guys got some good eyes. To me the yellow things look like grains of rice stuck to the stem. I gotta look really hard to see enough to figure they are insects.

They're tell-tale signs. Out of place on the smooth green stem, and the right size for bugs so requires a closer look, though aphids are big enough to see with the naked eye. 
Yep. That was what caught my attention but it took a lot of squinting to see what might be little tiny legs and eyes.

It doesn't help that they're such big, fat aphids, they almost don't seem like aphids at all.
