let it fill in. there's no need to do any kind of trimming at present. yes you are in veg.

you can fill the bucket further to the top, or do it when you up pot to something larger. leave it a half inch to an inch from the top. miracle grow soil and tomato food is kind of a last resort in growing. it's advisable to stick with readily available cannabis nutes. everyone starts somewhere, and there are folk who still use it. miracle grow can come with its own problems when growing cannabis.

Welcome to the forum!!! I agree with @bluter, that plant doesn't need trimming, you could think about topping it, but if possible get your light closer to the plant, it's got a bit of a stretch going (large internodal space). While I wouldn't recommend MG soil, many people make it work. Another suggestion, don't allow your pot to sit in runoff water, raise it up so it drains completely. Happy growing!

I'll second what bluter and Phytoplankton said about Miracle Grow soil. The existing product can be improved tremendously by adding 25-35% perlite by volume, and to each 1.5 cu. ft. (10 gallons) bag of soil, 2 cups alfalfa meal, 1 cup garden lime, a gallon of earthworm castings. There's a lot of other stuff you can amend with to build super-soil but this will get you growing, so to speak! Best to let it stand for a few months before use though.
Note: the perlite is very important- MG potting soil is formulated for Joe Everyplant and doesn't have enough drainage for cannabis. Even better than perlite alone: a 50/50 blend of vermiculite and perlite. If you only add perlite or perlite/vermiculite, you can use the soil right away.
If you don't want to bother with amending, there are many better off-the-shelf alternatives to MG like Roots Organics or Fox Farm that are formulated specifically for cannabis.
