I found this little guy roaming the edge of a plant

Is it a slug??? And are they detrimental to our ladies??

I named him squishy, and he is my little squishy now.
Do they just eat plant matter?

Slug, use bait away from the Plant, pick'em off too, if that not working, go Chemical on them
