I bought a new light

I bought a new light and I have a question I hope you guys can help me with. I bought a Grower Choice ROI-E420 and manual says keep light at 6 inches above canopy. My question is should I keep it at 6 inches and turn light down to hit right par numbers or should I raise light and keep light at 100%? Or does it really matter? Maybe I should mention that I am starting flower today.

I think it means to put the light where you want as long as it's at least 6" away from the canopy. If you can get the par number you want with less watts then that's good too, imo.
