Rockingham police seized one of the largest hydroponics marijuana-growing systems Police Chief Robert Voorhees said he has ever seen and anyone locally can recall.
Two people were arrested Sunday fol-lowing a search at a house on North Randolph Street, Rockingham, by officers of the Vice Narcotics Unit.
Larry Bruce Crow-son, 55, and Sandra Webb Yaklin, 44, both of the address, were each arrested on charges of manufacturing marijuana and maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance.
Bond for each was set at $50,000.
During the arrest, officers seized 73 mature marijuana plants and 461 grams of harvested marijuana.
Voorhees said the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation estimated the street value of a single plant at $5,000 for a total value of $365,000.
The estimated value of the hydroponics equipment seized is $10,000. Hydroponics growing is without soil in water with artificial sunlight.
"These arrests are a part of the on-going investigation by the Rockingham Police Department's Vice Narcotics Unit into illegal drug activity," Voorhees said.
