If its like bag shake and the fine trim then 1 oz should be fine. Btw keep in mind when making the oil or butter you have to monitor the temp very closely or u can risk burning off Thc or other cannabinoids.. Also when baking the brownies I don't cook them at the 350 it calls for. I stick to 275 and cook for longer.
To make oil you just take shake bud or whatever your using and put it in the amount of oil called for by the recipe. Then slowly cook it keeping it below a simmer for 3 hours. I have done longer but not really noticed any difference.. Then take the oil and weed and strain it through cheese cloth. What you should have is some off color oil but it shouldn't smell burnt or bad.
When making butter i have heard of using a completely different process that involves cooking your weed in water for 24hours to extract anything that is water based and wont get you high. Then adding your butter to the water and cooking that below a simmer for a few hours. Then strain the weed out, put the water/butter in the fridge and on the top you are left with hardened butter and water underneath. Simply toss the water and the butter is ready to be used.
