How long will untouched seeds last?

I know it's probably been asked a hundred times before, but I keep seeing different answers. Does anyone know how long seeds should last if kept cool and dry? I've heard 1 year from a friend and seen up to 5 years on different forums. I have some feminized strawberry cough seeds i'm not ready to grow yet, and i'm wondering if I can grow, say 5 this summer, and 5 next summer?

I guess it depends on the seed. As long as it is kept dark, cool, and dry it could theoretically be kept for a few years. I'm sure the germination success rate begins to decline after a certain amount of time. I think 1 year you should be ok.

I'm pretty sure they will keep for a very long time in those conditions.

I know there have been people who had seeds from the 70's and they grew. It just really depends on making sure the seeds stay in a cool dry place. ;-)
