how long until pre flowering shows

i have read many threads that have been really helpful. this is my first grow. any help would be greatly appriciated.

1. how many weeks of vegetative growth does a plant need before it starts to show if its male or female?

2. some of my smaller plants that are a few weeks old are leaning over. could this be because of the fan?

3. what would be a good recomended time to induce the 12/12 light cycle for flowering.

i want the best buds possible but im unsure on how long to let my plant stay in the vegetative stage. im using two 400 wt 4ft flouro lights up top and 3 cfl's running vertically. how far should the baby's be from the lights? i think they may be stretching

also, my plant is growing outward and bushy... slightly upward. unlike many plants that grow tight and upward.

1; Usually after a couple weeks.
2robably, an oscillating fan works best to build strong stalks.
3:Usually you get within a foot to 18 inches of how tall you want them and then switch to 12/12.
With flouros you can get within 6 inches.
