How do you inspect trichomes on 10' - 12' high outdoor plants?

My first year outdoor plants are getting bigger than I thought they would. It just occurred to me I'll need a 10' ladder for these . . . but my balance is not the best.

I looked online and couldn't find any suggestions about this. Does anyone know any tricks for this other than going up on a ladder with my jewelers loop or to take pictures?

Check the trichomes on lower branches. You should also be able to tell when near harvest by pistils shriveling and when plant starts to fade.

General appearance will give you a good idea.
Size of buds , color and shape of pistils, size of calyxes etc.
Once you see these factors come together you can bend tall branches and scope them.
And take pics and let us help you judge.
