How can I tell the sex of my sprout?

I have a nice little sprout growing but I don't know what sex it is. It would be very helpful to me if someone could post a pic of each sex for me at very young-young stages and some explanation. Also I bought a 24" fluorescent grow light is that enough for one plant? Thanks so much for any help.

Part of the problem with sexing cannabis is it does not show it's gender until the mature plant is ready to flower. When they are turned onto a 12/12 light/dark schedule after sufficent vegetative growth they will begin to show their sex. A normal flororescent light no matter how long or how many watts is not an adequate grow light.

he's right, if u look at my grow journal, it will explain alot of information that you just asked, it will also show u how many and much lights i have used for 4 plants, now one method u can use to see sex, take a brown paper bag when your plant has developed branchs, you will be able to tell these quite well. saying you have your plants in veg on a 24/0 lighting regimen, for 12 hours give them light, and another 12 put the bag on the cola. a female will have 2 hairs, they will be white, males will have at the beginning kinda the same thing goin on, but that little ball the 2 hairs come out of will move out on a stem. looks kinda like a wiener.....

hello iloveramey like rooman saidput them under 12/12 watch them and in a couple of days you will see either the males balls or you will start to see the wispy long hairs growing i have attached a pic for you to see hope it helps you all though i dont know alot about it but if you put them under the 12/12 just to sex them then go back to18/6 this could stress the plant out pretty bad and i think also putting themunder 24 hour ligts is either needed or recomended to return the plant to its veggatation stae not realy sure but i know i read it somewhere along with this pic hope it helps

do not sex the whole plant, i made the mistake on 4, luckily all 4 turned out female. do the bag method. it really works. i did this so i could take clones sexing the whole plant than trying to take clones dont work.

Thanx so much to all of you for the help and advice , this is my first grow and if I can get it to grow up successfully I promise to smoke a big one in your honor. I heard that last night on the news but today the Mexican president is thinking about changing his mind... bummer.

That bag method is interesting, however if you are growing with bagseeds somtimes you get hermies (plants with both male and female parts) and sexing only part of the plant would fail identify these. Why not flower the whole garden? Kill the males if you don't want them for pollen and save the females for mothers if you want to take cuttings. This is how it is done most of the time and I don't see anything wrong with it.

i did it cuz i was impatient lol, i just wanted to know, gave me a general idea. plus that and i had to take clones before i flowered.
