All,

I am in the process of building a 2' x 4' x 6' tall Screen of Green grow box using a 600w HPS. I plan to keep 2 or 3 in the flowering box at a time. While these are flowering, I would like to keep some clones growing to take thier place. So, I want to build a small clone box. The thing is, I have no idea how big to make it. I want to be able to clone 6-8 at a time. That way, I will be able to select which ones are growing best to put into the flowering box and account for losses while cloning.

So, how big should a make a my box for 6-8 clones. I plan to vent with a PC fan and use CFL's. So, the heat shouldn't be too bad either. I was thinking 2' tall x 2' x 3' long.

I was also wondering how long a clone takes to grow to about 18-24 inches? I know it depends on strain and all. But, what is a good average wild ass guess.

nobody has an opinion on how big a clone box should be?????

2'x2'x2'... perfect for a couple 2' tubes... my clones r about 18" 2mos after the cut... i think, but i fim em about a week after rooting, so maybe shorter time than that if u just root n grow...

So,

If I start a clone around the same time I start my others flowering, they should be just about ready for the flowering box right around harvest time ....... right?

Went out today and got a sheet of plywood. I ended up making my box 2' tall x 18" deep x 2 1/2' long. This way, I can use the 2' long T5's (2). I drilled about 40 seperate 3/8" holes in the bottom for vents and plan to put a 6" computer fan in the top. Hope that's enough ventilation.

yep timing sounds about right... @ least with what i witness on my end w/ mine. the box'll do, just remember misting will b ur friend while they r enclosed-- u gotta keep up the humidity don't wanna vent too, too much or u'll dry everything out

So maybe just put some vent holes on the sides (near the top) and not run a fan??

holes yes, fan-- not directly on the clones, maybe intermittently & not all the time & let em' outta the box once in awhile-- misting is your friend... can never b too much, in my opinion.. oh & clip about 1/3 of every blade tip off from the leaves-- it'll make the clone transpire a lil slower or sumfin like that...

thanks.

y u got them hamburger patties on the box 4?! n 4 a bit of solar cooking-- haha i keed ,i keed...
I run a clear/transparent plastic box thingie too-- i drilled a couple of 1/2" holes n the cover (to vent), a couple of holes on the side- an inch from the bottom(to weep). filled box w/hydroton to top of drilled (weep) holes in the side of the box, dump 2cups of water n2 the box-- add 20+ prepped clones, mist 2-3x a day-- transplant on day8, roots showing r not-- n2 prepared soil #1 pots...

Yeah,

It turned out fine. Using two double 2' T5's provides plenty of light. Used an old vent fan. Drilled holes in the top of the box in a circle the size of the fan. I have the fan on a dimmer. It's barely running. The box keeps the temp right at 80 degrees (I could cool it more if I wanted to turn up the fan) and the humidity is between 60 and 70. It's such a simple little box. Painted the inside flat white.

I'll try to throw up a pic when I get around to taking one.

Hey Muttt, good to hear! Happy growing! Here is what my d.i.y. humidity box looks like...

...I'll post the dimensions-- as soon as I find my tape rule. Aloha!

LOL they do look a little like hamburger patties. I cut those from the plastic packing sheet that my LED was packed with.
The holes they are covering are about 1 inch. They do a good job holding the cuttings in place.

yeah! good job on the DIY & recycling the packing... I found 4 some reason since starting my grow... that everything I C around me-- has more than 1 use

Well,

My little T5 clone box seems to be working. I've got 4 LA Kush clones in dirt cooking in there now. They've been there for 3 days and the leaves are still standing up and are nice and green. So I guess they aren't dead yet ........ LOL.

6 days and my clones are still alive. They are in little clear plastic cups. I'll transplant them into the grow box once I can see the roots through the side of the cup.
