How bad was your first grow, ever

I want to play along to. Years before my first real grow I bought a sweet sun system 150. It was early on when you didn’t have all the soils and nutrients and knowledge you have today.

I had no idea I needed a fan. Or that 105 degree temperatures were not ideal :rofl:

for a year. A complete year here was my cycle. I popped bag seeds (Mexican brick weed). They grew tall. Then they fell over. Never got to a harvest until years later when I joined here. Got great advice and nurturing.

Not sure if you folks would even consider this as a 1st grow, considering I got 1 seed out of some killer smoke, put it in some miracle grow potting soil (No germination) put it in a bay window, yes..natural sunlight, and grew a pretty, not huge, plant. I have moved her to a room with 1K watt led now, but she is awful pretty, and smells even better. No matter the amount produced in the end, I consider it successful. Have another one going also with plans for more now that I have found this forum and much needed advice.

That's great! My first plants weren't really that pretty. lol.

I'm thinking I just did the same thing. I'm building my first setup and just purchased a 10ft 4ft x7ft tent with clone, veg, flower sections..and a 2000w bestva light. As well as a dwc bucket system. Scrog nets,timers,carbon filters, etc... about $900 in all. Really hoping I dont fail my first grow. Definitely psyched to see what happens. Starting the first seedlings (feminized purple crash)next week when all equipment gets here.

My first grow in soil was a disaster, 4 for 4 hermied bad! Poor lights, erratic light schedule, improper growing space, you name it I did it wrong! 2nd grow was my first attempt in coco, I like it better, I'm never going back to soil, it's not for me.
I culled all 4 with tiny buds and nothing to smoke.
 
My first grow about 10 years ago was a garage grow. 600 watt MH & HPS.

I knew nothing about topping or how long to veg before flipping to 12/12.

I let this one veg for nearly 2 months in a 5 gallon bucket until it was about 4 feet tall.
It ended up getting way out of control and growing way above the rafters.

Got a nice yield from it though. Columbian Gold.

Good luck! My second grow is going MUCH better so far.
 
Aloha all!

My first grow started indoor and was in a empty bedroom closet with sliding doors under 4foot garage fixtures using T12 fluorescent bulbs.. bag seed came from some outdoor skunk/haze and braaahhh!!! did they stretch!! :laugh: Totally ill equipped in 1 gallon pots and zero ventilation unless you count sliding the door open.. no odor control also. They started dropping all of the fan leaves and ended up moving it outside under the Hawaiian sun. Bugs went to town on them along with powdery mildew. Funny looking plants in the end.. they just looked like long sticks with 3 inch bud tops. Maybe got half ounce or so off 4 plants.

I love growing. It’s therapeutic for me mentally and physically. I love the challenge and all the opportunities one gets to learn something new. Sending nothing but positivity to you all and hope you’re gardens flourish!!

started before there was internet. first lights were t5 grow lights. thought i was all leading edge and the total shizzle lol.
got photocopied pages from a grow book through my buddy cause you couldn't buy one locally and no one would order it in.

i think i grew for 6 months and wound up with 2 sorry looking females and 8 males that i mis-sexxed. i doubt i got 7 grams. :p
 
Starting my first setup ever. Just got my license. Hopefully between reading and talking with you guys it will be successful. Tonight was struggling getting the tent up. 106" x 48" x 80" using a bestva 2000w led 2 chip light and what seems to be to me a very large carbon filter. Dunno if I have overkill or doing it just right. Wish me luck. Dwc arrives friday and started the seedlings tonight.

also check out the last link in my sig. lots of good info there on how to use the site, where to find info, how to properly ask for grow support, and how to start a grow journal.

make sure you get a journal up when you get going. you could even start one now while getting set up.

I just finished a grow and had these two plants growing in a separate area. The buds that are hanging are now my new favorite smoke Purple haze and the one still in the pot is Great White Shark. I did a test smoke before I put the Purple haze in a curing jar and Holy shit it actually tasted like Grape and was very smooth before I even cured them. But what I thought was so cool was how Purple they turned. Here is a photo. Needless to say I just ordered 20 seeds lol.

I just harvested a 5 inch tall Auto Bubba Kush. It skipped vegging completely and just went to flower. It was the size of a large fist and weighed 9 grams dried. Its sister is still growing. While not a monster, it s normal looking and about 22 inches tall. Go figure. Major pheno difference as well as ph problems for several weeks. Got a new pen.
