do those HID light "hot spot or defusser" work? seems as tho they would block some lumens?

I've used heat a shield on the last 2 grows...
They certianly do reduce the heat/hot spot, i've had a 400w hps sitting at 25cm above the plants with no i'll effect.
Not sure if it blocks lumens tho ? may do slightly... i'm pretty darn sure their are a few different types of defusers aviable on the market tho which may be of better design.
