Homer's Legal 4-Plant Max Perpetual Minimalist Garden In Ontario

She's a hungry cow for sure Homer. Can you get some pics with the lights off. It would be nice to see them at this stage after all that MC. Have a great VD today!.

Yes, they seem to want more food!! I just upped it to 7.5g/gal today since I am not getting any hint of burned tips. Pics requested below with no burples on day 33 of flower. Happy VD day to you too buddy.

I actually agree, I think we’re feeding a lot of stuff that does nothing but make money for businesses. A plant needs 17 macro and micro nutrients to thrive. Environment is what holds back most grows.

Encouraging you agree Penny because I just took a flying leap on the word of some cranky old guy but he seemed pretty certain and didn't care if anyone believed him but was just say'in how it is, lol.

White Widow on the left and Cannatonic on the right.

Next generation up-potted today; Dinamed closest and Critical in background. It struck me it isn't very minimalist to start off in a smaller pot and then up-pot so from now on I will be using Sauga's method of putting seedlings right into the big 5-gallon pot as soon as the seed cracks open from soaking in water.

Happy VD day to you too buddy.

At first I thought 'What? a day devoted to a disease?'

I know, I'm Canadian. It's Victoria Day...

I'd like to see @Duggan, and @Mr. Magoo's reaction to those images you posted above. The leaves seem to have the sheen and texture of a high brix grow. Congratulations! You are doing things very right!

Happy VD Old Salt, lol.

Wow, glad you think my plants are doing so well. I am just doing things as simply as I can and miraculously it is working, lol. A lot of credit goes to @MrSauga for suggesting I keep pushing my nutes.

Very healthy looking! Great job homer!

Thanks, Mr Magoo. I just checked out your awesome Amnesia Haze harvest, now that is impressive!

Good morning Homer... it works for me :) Penny is right. They start off slow but then explode. I don't see the benefit really. It's not like Mother Nature drops them in a sandbox then moves them to a field later on. If I felt it was hurting my grows I would change things around but I'm happy with my returns.

I'm not so sure if the nutes are making them look that great. Your environment plays a key part as well. Fantastic looking green though Homer. Looking at the color I would think that 7.5g will be your number. They look beautiful right now.
:thumb:

edit: I should clarify that this time around with my photos I am trying the solo cups.

When you go straight to 5 gallons with the seeds make sure you still water as if they were in solo cups. Prevention of over-watering is the main reason for up-potting any type plant as the roots fill in.

I remember reading that MegaCrop continued to sell their boosters (even after tweaking their formula to where they weren't needed) because growers wanted to feel like they were doing something additional in flower like they were used to. At 9-6-17 you shouldn't need anything else...my Candidas certainly didn't!

I totally agree with your method and your reasoning. I was doing it because I read that forcing them to live in smaller pots and up potting makes a better root ball but I think the way I dry them right out my roots are pretty good. I know it’s highly recommended by some but repotting three or four times would be a big pain in the ass unless it was a huge return difference and I doubt it is so I will be using your method being a minimalist gardener a.k.a lazy gardener.

They do seem pretty happy at 7.5 g/gallon but somebody convinced me to keep raising it until the tips get burned and then back off so the urge to push it has been ignited in me, LOL. Seriously though they are looking good so I think I will give them 7.5 g for a couple of weeks and I might go higher or maybe not.

Thanks for the tip Shed about watching for overwatering in a big pot. I have been going from a 1 L container to 5 gallon so this isn’t that big of a step but still, I will watch out for that.

That is really a nice tidbit of information about MegaCrop tweaking their formula so you don’t need boosters in flower. You truly are full of useful information Sir!

I’m loving this thread. I’m trying to keep it minimal as well as I’m a goddamn cheapskate, and it’s encouraging to see your results!

Subbed!

Always glad to have another cheapskate aboard!! LOL. :ciao:

This was the root ball from my WW that went from tap root into a 7gal. Imagine the size if I up-potted. :hmmmm:

At first glance, I wondered why someone was posting pics of a big old dirty mop, lol. I would call that a pretty convincing argument. :thumb: Your seven-gallon pot has me thinking, since I am only budding 2 plants at a time down from four since I have a perpetual garden now with 2 also always vegging to stay within legal limits my pot size is probably limiting my output? Maybe I should increase my pot size because before I went perpetual I budded four plants in 4-five gallon pots so now with the same light I am only doing two plants with 2 five gallon pots so I am using half as much soil. I would think more soil with two plants would equal more buds. Since I just switched to much cheaper ProMix HP it would be worth it in bud increase I would think.

My little Critical girl was looking pretty happy already after her transplanting so I topped her today and took off everything below the 3rd node but I left a set of lower leaves, for now, to give her a little more energy.
