Highgrade mango bud grow, my first ever! Hps lamp, soil. Help needed!

Hi all, before i start i would just like to say that i am a compulsive liar, i make things like this grow journal on the internet and lie about it, like growing illegal substances and germinating illegal plants, all my pictures are copied and pasted form the web. This makes my life much easier to live!

So, i bought some seeds, Dutch Mango, the original, germinated one, and planted. Now my friend gave me some growing medium, including decent soil, a hps (sodium lamp i think), some nutrients, ph tester, ph buffers and other related stuff!

Now i have already started my grow, and learnt a few things to do with germinating ect, and also learnt from a few mistakes, like what happens when you mistake ph down for nutrient lol.

Anyway, i have never grown anything before, so i am just doing one plant to see how it goes. The plant is looking ok to me, i have it set up in a closet type wardrobe thing, with the light at the top obviously, and the plant below. I dont have any sort of air circulation.

I am goin to go and take a few pics, and will put them on in the next 20mins when i have learnt how to. I know i am going to need alot of advice, so any would be greatly appreciated!

Watch this space!

You'll have to excuse the crap pic quality, there was a bit of yellowing on the leaves at first, but i think this was due to me using too many nutrients, which i have now sorted! The new leaves seem to be growing fine, and it is growing fast!

Is the plant close enought, or to far away from the light, and should i defo get a fan?

Any help appreciated.

consider transplanting into a bigger container..

yellowing Does look like nute burn though..

By the way, some people are probably womdering why i am only growing one plant, i want to make sure i can do it and learn from any mistakes, then i will do it properly!

Well reading this up front did turn me off from reading further. Just being honest here.

anybody even looking at this post? or am i wasting my time?

Groewing one plant un sexed is what it is. At least with 2 plants from seed you have a better chance of getting one female.

What type of lighting are you using? That can determine the distance away from the plant.

Going to a larger pot will help improve condtions. Just turn it upside down inside your palm tap the sides and bottom and the plant will slide out. Set that into a at least a 3 gallon pot with soil 1/3 up, set the plant on top of that and cover with a a good Medium soil. Water gently, not overly.
Watering and fertilizing like you mentioned did not help the plant too much.

Most new growers have a tendnacy to overwater, over fertilize, and anyalize the hwck out of things.

Hi thanks, for looking, the seeds i bought were feminised, so it should be a female right?

I have just transplanted into a much bigger pot, i think i damaged a few of the roots while i did it, but not bad.

How often should i water? I have been watering a little every 2 days, and using a little bit of nutrient every 2 days. Is this sufficient?

I will be adding some pics either later or tommorow, a couple of the leaves have seemed to droop in the last couple of days, dont know why!

The light i am using is a sodium light, thats all i know!

I too was turned off by the disclaimer at the beginning. :loopy: lol
I wouldnt add any nutes for one to three weeks after transplant if your soil is good. Water when the pot feels pretty light to you, 3-8 days something like that. I know the grow bible says 20% run-off every watering, but IMO thats way too much unless you have to flush; I prefer to give them just a bit of H2O to "prime" the soil (enough to only dampen the top) then wait fifteen minutes or so, add some more distribute it EVENLY, until a few descent sized drops run out of the bottom. I would read some of the other journals and get a better understanding as to why and how some things are done like the watering and ferts.
Good Luck with the grow

Hi people, prob not many people looking at this, too be honest ivebeen too busy, but i will add some pics now. The plant is doing really well, i have resisted the temtation to over water and over nutrient lol, learnt my lesson there,
Not having any problems, also got a decent fan now, so it seems to be growin strong.
Just tonight changed light cycle to 12/12.
Could do with a bit of advice reagrding, do i need to water/nutrient any more than normal now because ive gone 12/12?
And should i trim the plant anywhere?
Sorry for the crap photo's!
Any help appreciated!

Here are some pics.
On the ones where the plant looks smaller, that was around a week ago.
The ones where it looks a bit droopy are from tonight, think its droopy coz its the middle of the night!

By the way, i have chopeed two leaves off, they were blocking the light from a lot of other leaves below, my friend reccomended loppin them off so i did! Is this the correct thing to do, and what should i be trimming if i have to do it regulary!?

I rarely trim any leaves. The big fan leaves are the powerhouse of the plant. Most of the fan leaves will die naturally towards the end of the flowering cycle. I wouldn't worry about trimming at this point. ;-)

Damn, i have already removed two lower fan leaves, as you can probably see from pics, my friend reccomended it saying they were blocking the light from the lower leaves.
Anyway il leave them alone from now on then! Thanks, for the help!

Time for an update, iv swtiched to 12-12 for around a week now, pistols are coming out, and its starting to bud! (Wahey)

Now the plant has grown a lot more than i exoected, and i think its getting to close to the light, as the top leaves have burnt! If you look through the pics i put now, you will see this, i have have chopped the two top burnt leaves off, as they were basicall dead.
The problem i have now is, i have nowhere else to grow except the cupboard its in now, and the plant is going to get taller i presume? Is there anyway i can cut the plant down, and also make it bushier, as in grow outwards instead of upwards!!!?
I have heard of training, but unsure how to do it and what it entails and what the results are.
Also, do i keep feeding the plant the same nutrients while it is on 12-12?
I would really appreciate some help here.!!!!
