Idaho State Representative Tom Trail (R) Moscow, is planning to
introduce Industrial Hemp legislation again this session in Boise(three
separate bills).
Representative Trail introduced industrial hemp legislation last year that
died in the agricultural affairs committee. Idaho State Representative
Maxine Bell (R) serves on the Idaho State agricultural affairs committee and
was the moderator at the Dec 13-15, 2000, National Conference of State
Legislatures (NCSL) meeting that debated an industrial hemp resolution
before the NCSL's Agriculture and International Trade Committee.The NCSL
passed the resolution introduced by Representative Jon Nelson (R-ND) asking
for the United States Dept. of Agriculture (USDA), Drug Enforcement Agency
(DEA), and the Office of Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) to adopt an official
definition of Industrial Hemp as per those nations currently producing hemp.
Representative Bell voted in favor of Representative Trail's legislation
last year.
