Help: buds not fattening

Hi,

I have 2 C4s automatic, they are in week 8 and have being flowering for almost 3 weeks. According to the breeder, it should take 8 weeks from seed to harvest (which I know is not supposed to be a rule, and most likely underestimated). I have searched for journals from the same genetics and found that plants at this stage (8 weeks old) a lot more bushier and with the flowers connecting to each other. The average harvest time for this strain seems to be around 11 weeks (also from some journals I could find)

This is my first grow and I know I have a lot to learn, so wanted to hear any advice on why

1) I have seemed to have done everything right and had luck with pests and so forth, but my plants seems to be quite smaller than average (50 cm vs 70-90)

2) My buds seems to be growing quite slow, and with the time left it seems they wont really connect to form a nice cola (as in the pics with an arrow or circle). Is there anything that I could have done or not that could have impacted it? Still time to do anything else (have in theory 1 week more feeding before flushing for 10 days)

My set up is
- 3 single COB CXB3590 3500k (55W) + 1 viparspectra 600w (real 230w) at 18h/6h
- 23x23 inches tent
- overdimensioned extractor and filter (bit of negative pressure)
- Have a small fan inside grow 24h
- Have been feeding with base nutrients and the bloom boosters at 6.3 PH, half manufacturer recommended dosis, almost every watering (same for veg, but with veg nutes), and plants have always seemed fine
- Using soil and fabric pots 15L
- temp started at 16-22 and now is 22-28 (night and day)

Have also included a pic from another grower which seems to illustrate the difference... he has the same 2 different phenotypes I got, and he seems to be really good from all the journals... is this something achievable for the average guy or something only for pros?

Thanks for any advice!!!

PS: please don't get me wrong, they are beautiful!! Just want to learn where I could have done better!!

I am not all that knowledgeable but if it where me I wouldn’t start flushing yet. Looks like they need more time. There is still potential for fattening up. Just my thoughts.

Was watering them and have seen that one of the plants is already with some brown pistils... do you still think I have 3+ weeks before harvest?

Also when to know the time to start flushing?

Thanks again for all the help!

Yes, you still have a long way to go. Patience. Also, something to consider.

How I decided to flush in the past. I would wait for the trichs to start to turn milky or murky how ever you want to put it. Then I would start flushing. Side note I always waited for trichs to turn Amber before I harvested I like the couch lock stone.

Hi Guys, a week has passed and buds are growing but not as fast as in other grows I have being following... as it is my first grow already stoked with what I have but at the same time wondering what I have to correct to get those stems covered from bottom to top :D:D

Here are some new pics, and also wondering if I should start flushing already (was planning to do it for 7-10 days). The hair is becoming more red in some buds but still seems far from harvest... trichomes seems to be transparent but one or another is brown (could find any milky one). Also some lower leaves have started to yellow...

How fast this normally evolves? In a week would most hairs be brown and trichomes get milky? Or do I need more time? I am already in the mid of week 9 (auto, from seed)

I know its different every time but appreciate your experience even if for an educated guess :)

@Calvados: have tried the back building in some buds... not sure if any difference in size but they do seem to be harder!! Thanks!!

Any thoughts??

I would say you still need another 2 weeks of nutes and 7-10 days of flush, you can see there starting to swell more as times goes on.

Still a lot of calyxes firing bright white hairs out but if you post some more pics in 1 more week we will be able to see by then, so yeah i say another week or 2 of nutes then flush, great part is when you make sure there ripe when you start to flush is that you add more weight by flushing the plant and making it use its own resources which actually increases yield, potency & quality.

The worst part of growing i think most people will say is the waiting game, patience is key with cannabis.

Thanks @higherthehigh! Will post again in 1 week...

This strain was not supposed to take that long (breeder 9 weeks / other journals 9-11 weeks), with 3 more would be going to 12+ ... is it normal that some plants take that longer to mature? Anything I could have done that caused it (as both are taking longer despite beem from same genetics and different phenos)?

And yes, the waiting game is though :) hope it eases with more grows on my back... now still checking the plants multiple times per day :p

Strains seem to always take more time that what s advertised.... Be patient they look good just give them time

I agree that you are weeks away from being done. Your bottom leaves are starting to yellow which is a good thing. There could be any number of reasons why your plant is behind schedule. It doesn't really matter. You should go by what you see anyway. Study what your plant is suppose to look like at the stages before harvest. I think your buds will be much closer to what you want by waiting.

Hi Guys, another set of pics a week after from last ones... my impression is that either there is no further bud growth or it was minimal...

The plants used to look health all the way until now, and have shown more yellowing in some leaves... like the ones in the pics below... are they normal at this stage or could it be result of overfert?

@higherthehigh : do you still think I have couple weeks + more? Hairs becoming more brown as well, but trichomes dont seem to be getting milky or brown... but again have heard that with outs it might never happen...

Any advice (on what to do / what I could have done better to have bigger buds) more than welcomed!!

Your not letting your pots dry out enough. Flush when your hairs are 75% brown. Flush till your runoff is the same as your water your flushing with. LET DRY OUT before next flush.

Letting your pots dry out, will make your fruits much larger.
